On 10/10/2012, white “red” king crab (Paralithodes camtschaticus) was found in Wakkanai city Hokkaido.
Except for the top of claws and a part of the shell, it’s completely white. The shell is 25cm long, 2kg weight, bigger than usual.
Usually it’s red purple. It is presumed to be mutation.
Noshappu aquarium to take care of the crab comments, they have had purple or blue ones before but haven’t seen a white one.

 

2012年10月10日、北海道稚内市で白いタラバガニが見つかりました。爪の先と甲羅の一部以外は真っ白です。甲羅は約25cm、体重は約2kgで通常より大きめです。通常では体色は赤紫です。突然変異による変色だと推定されています。
このタラバガニの世話をしているノシャップ寒流水族館は「これまでも紫や青いカニは飼育したことがあるが、白いのは初めて」とコメントしています。

Le 10 octobre 2012, un crabe royal du Kamtchatka, Paralithodes camtschaticus, a été observé à Wakkanai sur l’île d’Hokkaido.
A part le bout de ses griffes et certaines portions de sa carapace, il est complètement blanc. Sa carapace fait 25 cm de long, il pèse 2 kg, plus que la normale.
Normalement il est de couleur rouge-violet. On suppose que c’est une mutation.
L’aquarium de Noshappu qui va soigner ce crabe précise qu’ils en ont eu des violets et des bleus avant mais qu’ils n’en ont jamais vu un blanc.

They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
