Mutated stag beetle was found in Ushiku city Ibaraki prefecture this June.
It has male head and female body.

The expert of local animal, Mr. Shimizu comments,





Because of chromosomal abnormality, you often see the stag beetle of right/left half body as different sex, but I never expected such a one of male head with female body exists, I was rather shocked. You can’t see it more than once in a life.


Probably this is the first discovery of the stag beetle that has separated sex such clearly.
Multiple experts talks, biologically, it’s close to female, has the function to bear eggs.

Une lucane mutante a été trouvée en juin dans la ville d’Ushiku de la préfecture d’Ibaraki.
Il a une tête de mâle et un corps de femelle.

Un entomologiste local, M. Shimizu, en dit ceci :


Par anomalie chromosomique vous avez souvent la moitié de la lucane de droite/gauche avec un sexe différent mais je n’ai jamais pensé qu’un jour il pourrait en exister une pareille, à tête mâle et corps femelle, ça m’a plutôt choqué. On ne voit ça tout au plus qu’un fois dans sa vie.


C’est sans doute la première fois qu’on découvre une lucane qui sépare aussi clairement ses sexes.

Selon plusieurs experts, biologiquement, ce mutant est plus près de la femelle, peut porter des œufs.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
