Abe LDP president, “Fukushima is not shutdown yet”

Abe, newly elected LDP president visited Fukushima plant on 10/3/2012.

He travelled around reactor1 ~4 by bus but he didn’t wear the protective clothing.

In this visit of Fukushima plant, Abe admitted Fukushima plant is not shutdown yet.

He commented like this below,


As a matter of fact and the feeling of local citizens, you can’t tell it’s shutdown yet.

M. Abe, le nouveau président du LDP s’est rendu à la centrale de Fukushima le 3 octobre 2012.

Il s’est déplacé en bus autour des réacteurs 1 à 4 mais sans porter de combinaison de protection.

Au cours de cette visite, M. Abe a admit que la centrale de Fukushima n’est pas encore arrêtée.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
