1,050,000 Bq/Kg from the soil beside reservoir in Fukushima, jumped up by 11 times since last summer

According to the Ministry of the Environment, 1,050,000 Bq/Kg of cesium was measured from the soil beside reservoir in Fukushima.

Sampling date : 10/25/2012
Location : Beside the pond for agricultural use (Ohkuma machi)
Cs-134 : 400,000 Bq/Kg
Cs-137 : 650,000 Bq/Kg
I-131 : <370 Bq/Kg
Distance from Fukushima plant : 10km

They also measured 780,000 Bq/Kg from the ground soil of another reservoir.

Sampling date : 10/18/2012
Location : The ground of the pond for agricultural use (Futaba machi)
Cs-134 : 290,000 Bq/Kg
Cs-137 : 490,000 Bq/Kg
I-131 : <300 Bq/Kg
Distance from Fukushima plant : 10km

Nikkei reported the highest reading was 780,000 Bq/Kg by ignoring the 1,050,000 Bq/Kg for some reason. *1

In the last research conducted last summer, the highest reading was 96,000 Bq/Kg from the ground soil of agricultural reservoir in Namie machi. (Cs-134 : 35,000 Bq/Kg, Cs-137 : 61,000 Bq/Kg) The measurement was conducted on 7/4/2012.
From July to October, the measured reading increased by 10.9 times.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
