A Japanese volcano in Sakurajima is becoming active.
1/22/2012, 20:44, it erupted for the 142 times of this month, which broke the historical record of September of 2011 (141 times).
Last year it erupted for 996 times. Since 2009, the eruption has become frequent more and more.
The crater is at 800m point.

桜島、月間最多の爆発 １４２回、警戒呼び掛け
活発な噴火活動が続く鹿児島県の桜島で２２日午後８時４４分、今月１４２回目の爆発的噴火が観測され、月間最多を記録した。鹿児島地方気象台は「大規模噴火の兆候はないが、引き続き噴石や火砕流に警戒が必要だ」と注意を呼び掛けている。
同気象台によると、今月の爆発はすべて昭和火口（標高約８００メートル）で、南岳山頂火口（同約千メートル）では観測されていない。これまでの月間最多は昨年９月の１４１回だった。
昨年は１年で９９６回の爆発を観測、２００９年から３年連続で年間最多回数を更新するなど、爆発が増加傾向にある。
