Coolant water gradually leaking out of Reactor2 / Water level only 30cm from the vessel bottom, half of last year

The coolant water level is only 30cm from the bottom of Reactor2. Tepco released the report on 6/9/2014.

From 6/5 to 6/6/2014, Tepco finally installed the new thermometers and water gauge in Reactor2. As they observed by the camera on installation, they confirmed the coolant water surface is only 30cm from the bottom of primary containment vessel of Reactor2.

Last time when Tepco investigated Reactor2 on 3/26/2013, the coolant water surface was 60cm from the bottom of the vessel, which was as double was now.

It proves the molten fuel completely melted out Reactor2, and the continuously injected coolant water keeps leaking out from the vessel and the water level is gradually going down.

  1. Elvis has left the building:

This tells us that the top of the FDU-2 Corium slug is less than 1 (30 cm) foot above the bottom of the reactor. The estimated volume of the corium would require about 60 – 100 cm. Therefore, at half of the corium melted through and flowed from the FDU-2 nuclear reactor vessel.

    Gone With The Wind

    1. Or it’s uncovered. As mentioned previousy, it probably doesn’t require active cooling, or cooling the bottom of it is a sufficient heat sink to keep ambient temps in an agreeable range.

  2. According to ‘The Smoking Chimp’ website discussion of FDU-1

On November 30 2011, TEPCO released a document addressing that specific situation. To keep it short, on page 22 of the report, TEPCO estimated that fuel from Unit 1 has melted approximately 70 centimeters into the concrete directly below the breached reactor pressure vessel

Between that time and October 15 2012, TEPCO sent workers in to investigate the containment of unit 1 in greater detail. The readings which were made show that the highest level of radiation in Unit 1 are no longer located in the primary containment itself, but in the torus-section on the West side of the reactor.

TEPCO has consistently stated that the total thickness of the “basemat” beneath the corium lava is only about 2.5 meters.

  3. FDU-3 Corium is probably in the water table

There is IMHPO, a high likelihood that a substantial portion of the FDU-3 corium flowed into the Earth.

Perhaps, with some luck, much of the corium mass of FDU-1 and FDU-2 remain above the cement foundations.

Hopefully most of FDU-1 & FDU-2 corium slugs are still above ground.

    1. Probably in the water table???? you’re last estimate was that it was scattered over several thousand square miles.

You’re just full of shit. Shut up.

      1. The comment stands, as written.

“a substantial portion of the FDU-3 corium flowed into the Earth”

And it can also be the case that:

“a substantial portion of the FDU-3 corium was blasted into the air”

        1. Well, I can’t stop you writing whatever you want. Doesn’t mean any of it is remotely true. Stop posting such bullshit.

          1. Seen any more glowing fuel lumps lately? Been reducing your food intake much these days?

            1. Your inability to do the “heavy hauling” and find such pictures for yourself are evidence of another FAIL by Naill.
I’ve seen them; he’s seen them; you’ve thusfar FAILED to see them; FAIL from Sweden.
I have also seen a beautiful pink sunset; FAIL from Sweden.

For Mr. Duff (from link by unknown ‘newser)
              http ://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2650705/Sunset-rainbow-Stunning-scenes-skies-Atlanta.html

If the MOX fuel in Eunuch #3 had all gone sky-high with the blast, debris would be contain 25k times as much plutonium.

              1. quote from above link:

“Shepherds delight: The sky turns pink as a rainbow appears at dusk after a thunderstorm, in Atlanta”

                What a pretty pink sky.

              2. Title “Pink Sunset”

National Geographic’s Photo of the Day – December 31, 2013

                http ://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/photo-of-the-day/bardenas-reales-spain/

I thought somebody here said there were no pink skies.

If i find many more, could it be that he may be incorrect about other pictures he states do not exist?

                1. … and i’ll answer for myself, not Mr. Duff whom you originally asked.

I have been reducing my food intake a lot these days. Like the last couple of years.
I ate more banana & oats, as i have answered the call to “make friends with fibre”. :lol
I eat a lot less beef (thanks to an unnamed Japanese man) very little pork or salmon and no other seafood. California vegetables/fruits/nuts are turned down in preference for local varieties. Mushrooms are taboo.

Food is a drug. Alcohol is fuel.

      2. Debris pieces in Naraha-machi called and said YOU FAIL, Nail.
        http ://ex-skf.blogspot.ca/2014/02/now-they-tell-us-highly-radioactive.html

        1. Quote: “The degree of contamination from radioactive materials found on the small pieces of debris is similar to that on the debris found around the Reactor 3 building.

From TEPCO’s handout for the press, 2/12/2014 (in Japanese):

Very high contamination from cesium-134, cesium-137, and presence of cobalt-60 (in blue rectangle, added by me). Note the unit is Bq per sample, not kilogram. For example, Sample No.3 (0.4 gram) has 2.0 x 10^6 Bq, or 2 million becquerels of cesium-137:”

          . quoted from http ://ex-skf.blogspot.ca/2014/02/now-they-tell-us-highly-radioactive.html

The fun part is what happens when you compare Co-60 ratios to the expected inventory. That was no ordinary hydrogen explosion.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
