Around 13:00 of 6/29/2014, a Japanese citizen attempted self-immolation in Shinjuku Tokyo.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, he was protesting against the controversial right to collective defense and Abe cabinet, which is pushing this collective security.


The man, who looks like 50s ~ 60s in a business suit, climbed up the crossing bridge near the South exit of JR Shinjuku station with 2 bottles of gasoline.

He poured the gasoline over his head and set fire on himself. He fell off from the bridge burning. He was rescued by a fire-brigade but his physical state is not announced yet.


A witness posted the video on the internet. From the angle, it seems like it was taken from the building behind the protestor.

It captures from when the fire fighters come to rescue him to when he’s taken to the ambulance.

Ce 29 juin 2014 vers 13:00, un japonais a tenté de s’immoler par le feu à Shinjuku dans Tokyo.
Selon le département de la Police Métropolitaine, il manifestait contre le droit controversé à la défense collective et le cabinet Abe qui pousse à cette sécurité collective.
Cet homme, qui semble avoir entre 50 et 60 ans avait des habits de bureau, il a grimpé sur une passerelle pour piétons près de la sortie sur de la gare Shinjuku de Japan Railways avec deux bouteilles d’essence.
Il s’est couvert d’essence et y a mis le feu. Il est tombé de la passerelle en brûlant. Il a été secouru par des pompiers et son état n’est pas encore communiqué.

Un témoin a publié une vidéo sur Internet. D’après l’angle, il semble que ce soit pris du bâtiment à l’arrière du manifestant.
Elle commence au moment où les pompiers viennent le secourir et va jusqu’à sa mise dans l’ambulance.

They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
