[ABC] Fukushima radiation may kill 1,300

<Quote> [ABC]

US researchers have released a study warning that radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan may eventually cause up to 1,300 deaths.

A US study into the Fukushima meltdowns in Japan has contradicted UN claims that radiation from the disaster will cause no severe health effects.

The head of the United Nations committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation last year predicted there would be no serious public health consequences resulting from Fukushima radiation.

But a study by researchers from Stanford University in the US warns the meltdowns could cause anywhere up to 1,300 deaths.

It also predicts the disaster could cause anywhere between 24 and 2,500 cancer cases.

The researchers used a 3D atmospheric model developed over two decades of research to predict the spread and impact of Fukushima radiation.

  1. Today (19 July 2012) The Age newspaper in Melbourne, Australia ran a longer article also titled “Japan nuclear fallout may cause 1300 cancer deaths” written by Jason Gale (http://www.theage.com.au/world/japan-nuclear-fallout-may-cause-1300-cancer-deaths-20120718-22akp.html ). This purports to be the result of “research” from Stanford University in the U.S. 1300 cancers worldwide from Fukushima fallout?!? Like who are they kidding? This is clearly a disgraceful piece of public disinformation, put out everywhere to help lull the sheeple go back to sleep so nuclear can go on and on. IT SHOULD BE EXPOSED AND CONFRONTED. Please see what you can do.

  3. They need to add several more zeroes to the end and also consider the end of the blood lines of many families due to genetic damage. This is genocide, a silent nuclear war.

  4. “Chernobyl deaths predicted:
    899,310–1,786,657 Bertell (2006)
For all time, all radionuclides, entire world”

and it doesn’t include those that live with genetic disabilities and continue to pass on genetic damage – FOREVER.

Propaganda is not a surprise from Stanford, sadly.

  5. Give us a break, do they not realize by holding back the truth it just makes us worry even more 1300????. tepco admit themselves as well as many scientists around the world that the fukashima disaster is still unfolding and they have no way of knowing whats actually going on with the cores that just arent there anymore, not to mention the spent fuel pool no4. so with all this uncertainty and the fact this has never happened in history before, and we actually dont have the technology to fix it. They then say oh only 1300 will die. Give us a break ! we are not that stupid. By all means yes stop panic, but at least give people the facts so they can prepare, and make their own decisions !!. This is a life and death situation, however it seems money comes before life.!!

  6. What good official desinformation, one more time, provided by top pro Nuke official system. It crime against Humanity, not less.

They should check real public health stat on Ukraine & Belarus. It s only 25 years, so one human generation. Sadly, It s only dawn of it about real Tchernobyl consequences.

  7. US researchers would like to think it’s 1300 – more like at least, 13 million. Are we sure they didn’t miss a few zeros off their press release?
I guess the MSG, Aspertame, fluoride, genetically modified food wasn’t killing us off fast enough!

  8. EX-SKF has a great rebuttal to this …
I have it on my blog.

Many factors not considered in this ‘survey’!
Plus: Your website a GREAT HELP for correcting this type of mis-information!

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
