According to MEXT, the radiation level monitored in Nasu town hall in Tochigi prefecture goes down every morning around 8AM.
It didn’t decrease on 1/6/2013, when is Sunday.

So, it looks like rad levels are dropping during what would be regular work hours in the USA, and going back up toward the end of the workday. It’s almost like the workers are absorbing radiation while they’re there. Then, when the people start to leave for the day, less rad is being absorbed, so rad levels start rising again. Does nobody work there on Sundays?
I don’t know much about the Japanese people, or their work schedules. Is this a possibility? SOMETHING is blocking, or absorbing, radiation during regular work hours!

I agree. As the majority of the environmental radiation is coming from dust and soil this is a shielding effect – most likely by traffic.
