Fukushima prefecture started saving SPEEDI data by their own USB since 1 hr before reactor3 exploded

Fukushima prefecture received SPEEDI data from 23:54 of 3/12/2011 to 9:45 of 3/16/2011.[Link]

They received emails to contain SPEEDI data 86 times from Japanese government, but they abandoned the data without informing the citizens, which is because their inbox was full supposedly.

However, they actually saved 20 emails by USB, and 15 of them were the ones from 1 hour before reactor3 exploded.

The saved data contain the simulation of radiation spread of 1 and 2 hours later than it was computed, so the saved data in USB covered the simulation of radiation spread after reactor3 actually exploded. They abandoned the emails but saved it by their own USB.

Reactor3 had the explosion at 11:01 of 3/14/2011. Fukushima prefecture saved the data from the one computed at 10:00 of 3/14/2011, which simulated the radiation spread of 11:00 ~ 12:00, to the one computed at 2:00 of 3/15/2011 almost continuously. (The ones of 16:00 and 17:00 were skipped.)

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
