Cherry blossoms reached full bloom in Tomioka machi Fukushima, where the entire area is in evacuation zone.
In “Yono mori (Night forest)” area, 500 cherry blossoms are growing on the both side of the street called cherry blossom tunnel, for 2.5km. Over 100,000 people used to visit annually.
However, they won’t (shouldn’t )be seen by people.
This year, only nuclear workers in protective suits saw those trees.
街のほぼ全域が警戒区域に入っている富岡町で桜が満開となりました。
同街夜の森地区では５００本以上の桜が2.5kmに渡って道路の両側に並び、桜のトンネルと呼ばれて親しまれてきました。毎年およそ１０万人の人が訪れていましたが、これらの桜はもう人々に楽しまれることもなく、また、楽しまれてはいけなくなりました。
今年は防護服に身を包んだ原発作業員のみが桜を鑑賞しました。

jeez, can you at least out the facts correctly? the name of the place is “YONOMORI,” not “yorunomori” as you pretend, and it is in the town of Tomika, not Namie. “nuclear workers in protective suits saw those trees”? give me a break. the authorities gave permits to the media to cover the place (that’s what you see in the picture; these are journalists and not ‘nuclear workers’), when at first it was the local people who asked permissions.
also, originally, the ban on this area was supposedly to be lifted by the end of march, but finally the revaluations of the restricted zones were postponed for purely political reasons concerning the compensations for real-estates TEPCO is supposedly going to pay.
the people of tomioka couldn’t go to see the cherries this year purely for administrative bullshits, and not because of the reason that you pretend.
if you pretend to support some people, at least don’t be so sloppy that we can see the hypocrisy so easily. get the facts right for christ sake. media blackout? the bottom line is that a responsible media won’t permit incorrectness and lies to be spread around.
