[Photo] Personal geiger counter indicates radiation level 1.8 times higher than public monitoring post

A Minamisoma citizen talked a public monitoring post shows the radiation level lower than a personal geiger counter.

He posted the picture below. It was taken in the afternoon of 6/24/2014 and the location is the temporary storage area, which Fukushima Diary wrote about in the previous article. (cf, [Photo] A heap of removed soil for decontamination in Minamisoma [URL])

Monitoring post indication : 0.322 μSv/h

Personal geiger counter : 0.565 μSv/h

Additionally, another Minamisoma citizen posted that a public monitoring post has been “out of order” since over 1 year ago.

22:02 6/27/2014

“・・・ There is a public monitoring post in the front garden of Minamisoma city library, but it has been “out of order” since a long time ago, which is probably over a year.

They are not even likely to repair it. I’d rather want them to remove it. ”

Compteur Geiger personnel : 0,565 μSv/h

  1. Agenda Based

Sounds about like USA RadNet and AGW monitoring stations.

Bogus, agenda-based pseudo-science; at great public expense.

These expenses include: direct costs, consequential expenses and missed opportunities.

    Pseudo-Science

      1. Cartel of Dangerous Fools

The US Government, Japan, TEPCO, nuclear power plant A&E firms, IAEA, WHO and other ‘Team Nuke Pukes’, provably work in concert, to the public detriment.

Those subjects are ALWAYS ‘in order’.

        TTFN

        1. Does that include Amnesty International?

Various circumstantial evidence has directed my bureaucracy inquisition.

      2. Or you’ll what exactly?

Furthermore, his comments are pretty much on topic, but hey, I’m feeling pretty liberal right now so I’ma give you permission to go ahead and continue to make wild, troll-like accusations.

        1. Don’t give him permit to do anything. PayPall Niall?
He is “training fodder”. Feel free to learn how to shut one down. When you have figured it out “I” might not appear much in your posts. 🙂

“Police die of radiation in Fukushima”
          http ://fukushima-diary.com/2012/01/police-die-of-radiation-in-fukushima/#comments

Conca said nobody died of radiation from Fukushima, IIRC. Former director @ WIPP. He’s always BANG on.

  2. It’s possible that hand-held equipment is simply not as well calibrated as the installation. Who knows? No point jumping to conclusions involving the Illuminati.

    1. Routine:

The Japanese Citizenry has been CHALLENGING Japan Government equipment, for over 3 years now. The citizen reports and radiation maps have been repeatedly verified.

It is reasonable to presume the Japan Government stationary equipment is wrong. The reasons have been previously discussed at length.

      TTFN

      1. Repeatedly verified, just like your glowing fuel lumps and 20000 dead americans and radioactive orange sunsets.

        1. It was 14000, numbskull. Read ’em and weep deNiall.

          http ://enenews.com/md-infant-death-also-increased-in-bc-canada-corroborates-study-analyzing-post-fukushima-mortality-in-us-video

All we need is some pictures of glowing fuel to disprove every one of your textual gesticulations.

          1. Quote: “14,000 may be closer to 20,000 excess deaths”.

            http ://enenews.com/study-authors-now-20000-excess-u-s-deaths-after-fukushima-not-14000-follow-up-article-looking-at-age-groups-cities-in-works

That may be closer to 20000.
14000 likely more defensible statistically +/5% 19 times out of 20.

            1. Then again, they were utilizing revised inEPTCO data for that updated estimate, were they not?

Maybe 20,000 was more representative of a lower-end estimate, neh?

              1. The Mangano & Sherman study, consisted of reviewing routine US public health (mortality) data. So many people die each day and the preliminary cause of death is in the statistics, (car wreck, influenza, heart attack, stroke …). Then, as is routinely the circumstance with such data, the numbers are reviewed, corrected and updated.

Statisticians routinely review this data, looking for trends and spikes, up or down. They may relate an unusual incident level of deaths to some cause.

            2. Quote of JoyB: “None of the excess deaths noted were or ever will be blamed on radiation, so radiation lovers can always say radiation didn’t contribute to their deaths. But that’s like saying AIDS doesn’t kill anybody, some opportune infection or cancer that develops because the immune system is not functioning kills people. Duh. Just become some nuke or other claims the study has been “debunked,” doesn’t mean it’s actually been debunked.”

Later quote of Bobby1: “The Japanese health ministry estimated that 64,000 more people died in 2011 than in 2010:

              http ://ajw.asahi.com/article/behind_news/social_affairs/AJ201201020058

That includes 20,000 dead or missing from the earthquake & tsunami.

That leaves 44,000 increased dead. But the death rate has been increasing in recent years in Japan due to an aging society.”

Quote from article linked above by Bobby1:
“A natural decline in population marked the fifth straight year.

There were an estimated 1,057,000 births in 2011, down 14,000 from 2010, mainly because of the shrinking population of women aged 15-49.

The figure was the lowest since 1899 when statistics were available, except for 1944-46.”

              1. Quote of Majia: “low and mid-range levels of radiation cause a very wide array of health problems beyond cancer and radiation sickness.”

              2. If memory serves, Japan has severely restricted access to their 2011 and subsequent Public Health Data.

So the normally simple task of number crunching is ‘not a player’.

Just MORE ‘Team Nuke Puke’ lying.

There are Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Fallout, Personal Health Hazards (Japan) and Public Health Hazards (Japan, Canada, USA, Mexico, Pacific Islandia …).

Certainly a significant number of Japanese HAVE died earlier, and will die earlier in the future; as a result of the Fukushima Nuclear Accident.

And the LYING by the LIARS will continue, to try and hide those deaths.

  3. A single monitoring station has to be the most laughable (if it wasn’t so damn painfully sad) lowest sample size possible concerning substances which vary wildly in concentration in the actual environment. Must have spent a small fortune on each one.

Where are the multitude of sensors needed to get a better image of what and where contamination truly are?

The good news here seems to be that it’s only mildly inaccurate compared to being upwards of 3 magnitudes out as previously evidenced here on Mochizuki-san’s very informative blog.

Maybe the instrument in this article is too conservatively calibrated, or does not register the same bandwidth.

    1. Does this also mean that they have discontinued the model that put the lead-acid batteries in path of sensors, instead of underneath them? Yah!

It is a small victory, so i think a short vacation is in order.
There, that was good. Was that good for you too? Back to work! 🙂

    2. … “mildly inaccurate” …

      WPPSS! I was wrong.

They are not even likely to repair it. I’d rather want them to remove it. ””

  4. On March 27 2011 Tepco overestimated the radiation level of water in the reactor 2 building by a factor of 100. To the best of my knowledge this is the only time post-meltdown that Tepco or the Japanese government have ever overestimated radiation levels associated with the disaster. On the dozens (if not hundreds) of other occasions when they have been caught falsifying data, they have always underestimated the levels. Obviously this is not a coincidence or incompetence; it is a blatant campaign of disinformation.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
