Hello from Skagit County,Washington State,USA. I have found, apparently, ‘mutated’ dandelions here along the Skagit River. They look very simular to the ones shown here on this site. Found one like the one on display above. The geiger counter has been steadily increasing over the last several months. Was getting readings that fluctuated from mid-teens(counts per minute)to the low 30′s several months ago. The last couple of days, have taken readings measuring from mid-twenty’s to high-fifty’s !!! This does seem to be the trend. Where are the public safety official’s and their numbers !?!?

Could you possibly post those pictures and your text to the Seattle Times editor and also to the Washington State health department? Are you measuring microsieverts per hour (i.e., .2 to .5 microsiev/hour?) That would be very high, and similar to, the new normal for the area adjacent to Fukushima, where the old normal readings were 0.05. The state of denial is immense. NB

Please post pictures somewhere. Do you have a blog?

We live in Ketchikan, Ak. Today is the first day we have noticed it, but we have found two-headed dandelions in our yard.

I think there’s a song called “the new pollution” by beck, many it would seem saw this coming “radiation”

  5. TechDud says:

I note having personally seen similar rarities here on the west coast of BC well before the Fukushima Daiichi disasters (even before Chernobyl). Those were dandilions with at-most only 3 or 4 flowers merged though. I have never before seen a two-headed dandilion like the picture posted earlier.
In the summer it is not uncommen for air to be drawn northward along the west coast of the US. There do exist various reactors along that path. Also, the air-quality here is often ‘visible’ against the backdrop of mountains.

PS: You may have trouble posting pictures of any carrots from even a test harvest.
They may be deemed ‘pornographic’! :)

  6. TechDud says:

If dandilions could talk, i think that one would be forced to ride the ‘short-bus’!
