NRA “Marine lives contamination is not so serious” / “We don’t need to be so nervous yet”

In the regular press briefing of 9/25/2013, the chairman of Nuclear Regulation Authority, Tanaka reviewed the Pacific contamination situation and commented the marine lives contamination and seawater pollution are not so serious yet.

He didn’t mention the dilution by the seawater.

He commented because the situation is not so serious, they don’t have to be so nervous yet.



You can ignore the truth but the truth won’t ignore you.

Il n’a pas parlé de la dilution par l’eau de mer.
Il a déclaré que, vu que la situation n’est pas aussi grave, ils n’ont pas à se rendre déjà aussi nerveux.

Vous pouvez ignorer la vérité mais la vérité ne vous ignorera pas.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
