Tepco "It rains so heavily only once in ten years " → (One month later) "Overflowed for too much rain"

On 9/16/2013, Tepco had to discharge the “rainwater” retained in the tank areas due to the Typhoon.

(cf, Tepco discharged “rainwater” retained in 7 tank areas due to the Typhoon [URL])

Even on 10/1/2013, they failed in transferring the “rainwater” and caused a notch tank to overflow.

(cf, Tepco “Transferred retained water to a backup tank before overflowing” → The backup tank overflowed [URL 2])

However, Tepco was asserting the local dam to surround the tank areas wouldn’t overflow for most of the rains.

They stated it rains so heavily that they have to discharge water only once in ten years from looking at the past weather data.

Having said it happens only once in ten years, it actually happened next month.

Nuclear Regulation Authority commented that in the working group meeting for the contaminated water.

Tepco "It rains so heavily only once in ten years " → (One month later) "Overflowed for too much rain"

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
