Volcanic activity increased in Mt. Kusatsu-Shirane / Traffic restriction on National Route 292

Volcanic earthquakes rapidly increased in Mt. Kusatsu-Shirane in Gunma prefecture.

It was 4 times on 7/21/2014, but increased to 11 times on 7/22, 50 times on 7/23, and 148 times on 7/24/2014.

 

Gunma prefecture entirely closed National Route 292 from 9:00 AM of 7/24/2014.

At 8:30 AM of 7/26/2014, they decided to partially open it from 8:30 to 17:00 only for vehicles.

 

Japan Meteorological Agency had raised the eruption warning level this June. Having the warning level escalated, Gunma prefecture was actually putting the partial traffic restriction on National Route 929 since then.

 

The last eruption was phreatic eruptions in 1983, but the volcanic activity has been increasing since 311. Inflation of the volcanic edifice has also been observed this year.

Les séismes volcaniques se sont rapidement multipliés sur le Mt. Kusatsu-Shirane de la préfecture de Gunma.
Il y en a eu 4 le 21 juillet 2014, puis c’est monté à 11 le 22, puis 50 le 23 et 148 pour le 24 juillet 2014.

La préfecture de Gunma a totalement fermé la toute nationale 292 depuis le 24 juillet 2014 à 09:00 .
Le 26 juillet à 08:30,ils ont décidé de la ré-ouvrir partiellement de 08:30 à 17:00 uniquement pour les véhicules.

La Japan Meteorological Agency avait lancé une alerte-éruption en juin dernier. La préfecture de Gunma a instauré cette restriction de trafic de la nationale 929 depuis que le niveau d’alerte a augmenté.

La dernière éruption a été une éruption phréatique en 1983 et l’activité volcanique augmente depuis le 113.  Un gonflement du cône volcanique a aussi été observé cette année.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
