Oil leakage from 25 tones crane vehicle in Fukushima nuclear plant

On 7/4/2013, Tepco’s sub-contract company worker found oil leakage from 25 tones crane vehicle in the north side of reactor6.

Now they are removing the oil by adsorption mat.

Since this May, oil leakage from heavy equipment and fire for unverified reason have been reported frequently.

The press release is below,

Around 1:05 PM today (July 4), a cooperative company worker found oil leaking from a 25 ton crane vehicle at the construction site of the Miscellaneous Solid Waste Volume Reduction Treatment Building at the north side of Unit 6 in Fukushima Daiichi NPS. The leakage is spreading to be approx. 1m x approx. 1m on the iron plate used for protection, and the oil is being removed by adsorption mat.

Around 1:19 PM today (July 4), the incident was reported to Tomioka Fire Department.

(voir :
* Un appareil lourd télécommandé a laissé fuir de l’huile inflammable pendant le retrait des gravas du réacteur 3. Tepco : “C’est assez loin de la SFP”
* Dans la centrale nucléaire de Fukushima, 20 L d’huile ont fuit d’un camion à béton
* Incendie près de l’incinérateur commun à l’ouest du réacteur 5)

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
