In nuclear accident investigation committee, Edano admitted he recognized the fact of melt through on 3/13/2011.
He testified that for the question of lawyer Nomura, a member of the investigation committee. (He is my old teacher in university.)
Edano stated, cabinet office was simulating the situation of Fukushima plants with engineers of Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency.
By 3/13/2011, they already shared the recognition that the nuclear fuel had already been melted and the nuclear core was leaking out of PCV, which is called melt through.
Japanese people were not officially informed of the fact that melt through happened in Fukushima by 6/7/2011.
Until then, it was called harmful rumor.
However, Edano states he suggested the possibility of meltdown for the question of a reporter in the press conference held in AM of 3/13/2011, and he had not denied the possibility of that case, which was supposed to be the replacement of the official declaration of melt through.
Edano added, he thought Japanese citizens were already sharing the recognition of melt through from looking at the report of mass media.
