The highest reading was 16,740 Bq/Kg from dry shiitake mushroom. However, this is a processed food. The origin was Fukushima. [...]

According to CRMS（Citizens’Radioactivity Measurement Station), the average contamination of food samples was the highest in Nagano prefecture. Nagano is in central Japan, about 260km from Fukushima nuclear plant. Since 7. 2011, they have been analyzing 6,886 food samples. According to Citizen’s radiation monitoring station in Kakuda city Miyagi, high level of Cs-134/137 were measured from local food. Kakuda city is in 74km North of Fukushima nuclear plant. According to Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, 0.73 Bq/Kg of Cs-137 was measured from Orange. The orange was produced in Shizuoka prefecture. It was distributed for sale in Yokohama city. According to Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, o.64 Bq/Kg of Cs-137 was measured from formulated milk powder. It was produced in Tokyo and distributed in Kochi prefecture. Sampling date was 4/11/2013. Fukushima Diary doesn’t trust the reading of the measurement, but the origin, if it’s already distributed and the location of consumption matter. In [...]

Minamisoma city government did not publish the radiation data of food after December. The data is about the food for self-consumption. They are produced in the city. Although Mainichi newspaper reported 28,340 Bq/Kg of Cs-134/137 was measured from Shiitake mushroom this March, the data could not be found on the city website. (cf, Radiation test [...]

44 countries and regions are still restricting imports from Japan. Though Canada and Mexico lifted the importing restriction, China still bans importing all kinds of food from 10 prefectures. S. Korea is also putting regulations on importing spinach, fish, mushroom etc.. They don’t plan to lift the regulations yet. The staff in charge from MAFF [...]
