JP Gov “Engineering part of Tepco is extremely impoverished”

Note : If you are from the international mass media, Don’t read this site.

On 10/23/2013, NRA (Nuclear Regulation Authority) stated the engineering part of Tepco is severely deteriorated.

A committee commented serious problems keep occurring one after one. The site is occupied with dealing with the happened problems while they can’t solve any of them actually.

As a result, the workers are mentally and physically exhausted and technically deteriorated.

In the regular briefing of the same day, the chairman Tanaka stated Tepco is also in the serious shortage of well experienced workers.

I reject the international mass media to read this site without taking a contact with me.I know some of the mass media corporations read Fukushima Diary to understand the trend so they know when to report about Fukushima as if they were independently following it for a long time.
In short, they make you individual readers pay for this site while they pay nothing, and when they publish the “authorized news”, you pay for the “secondhand news”, which is nothing new for us.
This site is free for the individual readers, but not for corporations. In the world, this site is nearly the only source about Fukushima. I came here alone without any supporting organizations, background or anything. I’m not pleased to be exploited by the corporations that didn’t even properly report about Fukushima when 311 took place.

I demand them to take a contact with me BEFORE reading this site whatever the purpose is.

  1. TEPCO personnel management is a bit weak as well.

Special Report: Help wanted in Fukushima: Low pay, high risks and gangsters

By Antoni Slodkowski and Mari Saito IWAKI | Fri Oct 25, 2013 7:03am EDT

Oct 25 (Reuters) – Tetsuya Hayashi went to Fukushima to take a job at ground zero of the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. He lasted less than two weeks. Hayashi, 41, says he was recruited for a job monitoring the radiation exposure of workers leaving the plant in the summer of 2012. Instead, when he turned up for work, he was handed off through a web of contractors and assigned, to his surprise, to one of Fukushima’s hottest radiation zones.

He was told he would have to wear an oxygen tank and a double-layer protective suit. Even then, his handlers told him, the radiation would be so high it could burn through his annual exposure limit in just under an hour. “I felt cheated and entrapped,” Hayashi said. “I had not agreed to any of this.”

When Hayashi took his grievances to a firm on the next rung up the ladder of Fukushima contractors, he says he was fired. He filed a complaint but has not received any response from labor regulators for more than a year. All the eight companies involved, including embattled plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co, declined to comment or could not be reached for comment on his case.

Out of work, Hayashi found a second job at Fukushima, this time building a concrete base for tanks to hold spent fuel rods. His new employer skimmed almost a third of his wages – about $1,500 a month – and paid him the rest in cash in brown paper envelopes, he says. Reuters reviewed documents related to Hayashi’s complaint, including pay envelopes and bank statements.

    1. I humbly thank you, Tetsuya Hayashi-san.
My family, and many others here in north america owe you, the Fukushima 50, Yoshida-san, and the other workers a debt that our governments seemingly have no intent of paying.
Thank you, Hayashi-san. You, and other workers at the plant (present and past and future), have my gratitude and respect at least.

    2. …they are building tanks to hold spent fuel?

That wasn’t in their request for proposals, AFAIK. ???

    3. Involuntary imprisonment, is not an atypical practice, on modern Japanese international projects, in my experience.

Many years ago, I began to include a contract provision, for unrestricted right of ingress, egress, movement on campus, transportation …, for projects with Japanese contractors. (Or ‘no deal, Lucille’.)

      Involuntary servitude seriously sucks, IMHO!

      Sincerely,

      Bill Duff

  2. I believe the “well experienced workers” are also very radiated…and ill..I keep remembering the TEPCO Fukushima plant manager and hero during 3/11 who died from cancer and was denied benefits by TEPCO. Others see that situation and are fearful..everyone should be! Where are the Fukushima 50? Still living? Still working? I doubt it.

    1. FOI document disclosures from USA NRC

      http enformable com/ (wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Pascarelli-Robert) png

This Email, from Karl Feintuch, of the USA-NRC reportedly documents the Fukushima Daiichi Spent Fuel Pool conditions. It also outlines the INITIAL, PLANNED response of the USA government, to the Fukushima nuclear disaster. It further documents several ARS deaths at the Fukushima Daiichi Power Station. We call this document, ‘The Smoking Gun’. It is doubtful that the NRC and/or Karl Feintuch were misinformed?

Bullet-5 indicates “Z-H (Zirconium-Hydrogen) fire in U4 Spent Fuel Pool.”

Bullet-7 indicates “multiple Z-H fires reported in Spent Fuel Pools”

Bullet-8 indicates the USA initially planned to PROVIDE anti-radiation meds to Japan

Bullet-9 indicates “Japan reports 5 persons have received fatal radiation doses”

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
