[100m3 overflow] All β detected 60m east from the tank / Contamination already penetrating to groundwater

The contamination is possibly penetrating to groundwater already, according to Tepco.

One month after the overflowing accident, 120,000 Bq/m3 of all β nuclide to include Strontium-90 was detected from groundwater. The sample was taken in 60m east of the overflowed tank. The sampling depth was 10m.

Tepco admitted the overflowed contaminated water is already absorbed by the ground. They also measured 140,000 Bq/m3 of Tritium from the same sample.

Selon Tepco, la radioactivité se mélange déjà aux eaux souterraines.

Un mois après l’accident des 100 m³ ayant débordé, 120 000 Bq/m³ de radioactivité β – dont du strontium 90 – ont été relevés dans les eaux souterraines. L’échantillon a été pris à 60 m à l’est de la citerne qui a débordé et à 10 m de profondeur.
Tepco a reconnu que cette eau extrêmement radioactive est déjà absorbée par le sol.
Dans cet échantillon ils ont également relevé 140 000 Bq/m³ de tritium.

Le minimiser au début et ajouter tranquillement de nouvelles information pour que personne ne le remarque. Tout pour que le troupeau ne s’échappe pas. C’est leur stratégie.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.

This one gets very confusing to track, clearly TEPCO also had some trouble keeping their story straight.

19 Feb – Water found leaking through rain gutter – directly absorbed by ground – do not think it is flowing into the sea

21 Feb – Someone moved 2 valves – water was sent to tank that overflowed – someone move valves back
21 Feb – Removed 36m3 of the 100m3 water that overflowed – soil will have to be removed for remainder of water – cleaning workers are assumed to have serious exposure – water is concentrated radioactive salt water

22 Feb – Water level gauge of overflowed tank not functioning properly – intended tank had working gauge – workers were to check for decrease of water level, but not other trends

28 Feb – Overflowed water leaked into area filled with valves and pipes – can not get equipment into the space – workers must remove soil by hand – workers shielded by forced to be exposed

02 Mar – Water being removed by hand digging – over 100 interviewed, still can not determine who or why valves were moved

22 Mar – Water absorbed by ground – detected radiation at more than 80% of the water from the overflowed tank, 60m east and 10m deep.

An interesting note, to pump water into the tank that overflowed, 3 valves needed to be open, but 2 of them were already open when the mystery valve changer opened the 3rd valve into the wrong tank. One of the 2 other valves was a second valve in the same pipe, a backup and it was open. The final valve led to the first tank in a string of tanks.

If that set of tanks was filled with concentrated salt water, it was tanked back when TEPCO was using salt water to cool the systems, that water was not going to go anywhere, any time soon.

According to the hand-out the overflowed tank was in farm H6I and the water was taken from a new, recently drilled well. Seems strange that TEPCO is drilling new wells as far away from the water as the H6 tank farm.

Why is the outlet from the rain gutter for a small farm of tanks buried under a network of switches ?

No more reports on the seriously exposed workers that were hand digging, this seems very odd.

Again, more questions created, than questions answered.
