Following up this article..[Possible blasted substance]12 mSv/h of γ&β surveyed on the surface, “Tepco doesn’t announce α dose for some reason” [URL]

Extremely high level of Cs-134/137, and Plutonium-238/239/240 were detected from the substance found in Naraha-machi.

Tepco outsourced JAEA (Japan Atomic Energy Agency) to analyze the 4 pieces of the material. Tepco announced the result on 2/12/2014.

The result showed that the Cesium-134/137 density was from 275,362,319 Bq/Kg to 7,300,000,000 Bq/Kg, which is extremely high.

Also, Plutonium-238/239/240/Am-241, Cm-242 and Cm-244 were detected from all of the 4 substances. The highest reading of Pu-239/240 was 1,675 Bq/Kg.

The highest reading of Pu-238/Am-241 was 6,000 Bq/Kg, the one of Cm-242 was 1,200 Bq/Kg and also the one of Cm-244 was 750 Bq/Kg. (*)

According to Tepco, this is the similar level of debris around reactor3 though the density of Co-60 is 100 ~ 10,000 times higher than reactor3 debris.

Having measured the extremely high level of radionuclide including Plutonium, Tepco concluded the substance originated from Fukushima nuclear plant.

  1. Wow, that’s insanity. So hot. I feel so sorry for the people of Japan. It just gets worse and worse. When will they evacuate the island??
They should all move to the U.S. and setup shop here. 🙂

    1. Sorry,

The USA is already overrun, and unemployed, substantially by illegal immigration and excessive sanctioned immigration.

The present immigration statutes were enforced by Reagan, GWH Bush and Bill Clinton. They have NOT been enforced by the Evil Twin Insurrectionists, George Walker Bush and Barack Hussein Obama.

There is not a single identifiable voter demographic that has favored higher immigration quotas in more than a decade. Liberal, Conservative, Labor, Black, Hispanic, Caucasian and all the rest OPPOSE amnesty/shamnesty and increased immigration quotas.

Svalbard Island, is by treaty OPEN, for Japanese Migration. It is a proper destination and has reasonably low radiation contamination from Chernobyl, Atmospheric Bomb Tests and Fukushima.

        1. Repeat:

There is not a single identifiable voter demographic that has favored higher immigration quotas in more than a decade. Liberal, Conservative, Labor, Black, Hispanic, Caucasian, Republican, Democrat, Teaparty and all the rest OPPOSE amnesty/shamnesty and increased immigration quotas.

  2. Dumping,

That is about 250 miles. I should ‘hope to God’ that this highly radioactive material was accidentally spilled from a truck; and not deliberately dumped, or blasted all the way from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

But it is VERY bad, whatever the mechanism. Inspecting the load or refueling the truck could be a fatal mistake for the Yakuza SLAVE.

    1. Where did you get 250 miles from Bill? Google Maps indicates about 12 km as the Plutonium flies.

        1. Niall,

My grateful reply to Martin is below, you lying asshole. And that exchange was over a week ago.

          Sincerely,

          Bill Duff

  3. Cut & pasted the name into google maps. Not sure what went wrong. There are lots of towns with same names: Paris Texas/France …

12 kM is certainly in the trajectory for the FDU-3 supersonic detonation. Parts and pieces have been found MUCH further afield from that energetic blast.

Works for me. Thanks for the correction.

    Much better fit.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

    1. How far can an explosion throw debris (not ash, which is not thrown, but dispersed)..
A quick bit of research showed 10cm punice stones were found ~6km from Mt St Helens after a powerful eruption. I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think the Fukushima explosions were volcanic in magnitude.

      1. Some of the Interested Readers may not have studied classical engineering physics.

Pumice is too light (low density) to travel very far, due to air friction. It is somewhat like throwing a plastic beach ball, compared to a baseball.

Ballistic Coefficient (Shape) of the individual projectiles also figures in. Missiles, artillery shells, and bullets are shaped that way for a reason.

Initial Velocity and Angle are important. Generally speaking, as a 1st order approximation, 45 degrees will correspond to the longest travel.

The formulas and trajectories are easily available.

        Sincerely,

        Bill Duff

  4. It is near the NPP. It is also near where farmers are being encouraged to grow rice, and resettle.

  5. Well, as long as they wear Space-Suits.

I suppose they could live there, like a Lunar Colony, industrial clean room, or a deep ocean bathysphere. Closed environment, pressure lock doors and decontamination protocols.

It is a hazardous environment, in every possible respect. If you call that level of precautions, living, they could survive there.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

    1. Mr Bill Duff employs hyperbole when he describes outlandish radiation protection measures, in an attempt to illustrate the dangers of radiation.

    2. If you look at Pripyat, the local vegetation and wildlife seem to be thriving. This illustrates that human habitation causes a bigger impact on the environment than high levels of radioactive contamination.

      1. Your fallacy is showing:

Argumentum ad Ignorantiam: (appeal to ignorance) the fallacy that a proposition is true simply on the basis that it has not been proved false or that it is false simply because it has not been proved true. This error in reasoning is often expressed with influential rhetoric.

        A. The informal structure has two basic patterns:

        Statement p is unproved.
        Not-p is true.

        Statement not-p is unproved.
        p is true.

        B. If one argues that God or telepathy, ghosts, or UFO’s do not exist because their existence has not been proven beyond a shadow of doubt, then this fallacy occurs.

        C. On the other hand, if one argues that God, telepathy, and so on do exist because their non-existence has not been proved, then one argues fallaciously as well.

      2. Lying,

The Chernobyl environmental damage has been exhaustively described in the literature, for decades, and the documentation is ongoing.

Therefore, Niall again demonstrates that he is a LIAR, FOOL, and Nescient Idiot; as well as a Rape Rally Advocate.

        Sincerely,

        Bill Duff

    3. Low-Level Radioactivity

Even low-level radioactivity is damaging, scientists conclude

      Summary:

Even the very lowest levels of radiation are harmful to life, scientists have concluded, reporting the results of a wide-ranging analysis of 46 peer-reviewed studies published over the past 40 years. Variation in low-level, natural background radiation was found to have small, but highly statistically significant, negative effects on DNA as well as several measures of health. Mousseau and co-author Anders Møller of the University of Paris-Sud combed the scientific literature, examining more than 5,000 papers involving natural background radiation that were narrowed to 46 for quantitative comparison. The selected studies all examined both a control group and a more highly irradiated population and quantified the size of the radiation levels for each. Each paper also reported test statistics that allowed direct comparison between the studies.

The organisms studied included plants and animals, but had a large preponderance of human subjects. Each study examined one or more possible effects of radiation, such as DNA damage measured in the lab, prevalence of a disease such as Down’s Syndrome, or the sex ratio produced in offspring. For each effect, a statistical algorithm was used to generate a single value, the effect size, which could be compared across all the studies. The scientists reported significant negative effects in a range of categories, including immunology, physiology, mutation and disease occurrence. The frequency of negative effects was beyond that of random chance.

        1. LNT

So, is Niall now a subscriber to LNT?

The “Linear No-Threshold” model, assumes there is no safe level of radiation exposure.

          Sincerely,

          Bill Duff

  6. WHOI Senior Scientist Ken Buesseler calls for Pacific Radiation Tests and Publication

http www washingtonsblog com/ (2013/12/fukushima-radiation-hits-west-coast) html

With the first plume of water carrying radionuclides from Fukushima due to hit the U.S. West Coast any day now, [the senior scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Ken Buesseler’s] latest project is to convince the federal government to monitor radiation levels in the sea water.

“We don’t have a U.S. agency responsible for radiation in the ocean,” Buesseler said. “It’s really bizarre.”

He spent this past week in Washington, D.C., meeting with representatives of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy, asking them to come up with some sort of plan to keep tabs on levels of radionuclides in the ocean.

Indeed, Dr. Buesseler points out the circular reasoning which the government is using (at 10:00):

I completely agree that no radiation has been seen in the regards that we’re not really testing for it [laughter] in any organized way … We have very few data; it’s not really being organized. The government says we don’t really need to do that because we’re predicting very low levels. On the other hand, you could argue I’d very much like to see study on our side of the ocean just to confirm these values and build some confidence with the public that’s been concerned about this. They’re right to be concerned — as scientists we’re telling them they shouldn’t be, but it’d be nice to have a few more data points to fill that gap … I’ve been told that there’s very little testing going on.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
