Co-60, corrosion product detected from gas samples of reactor1, 2 and 3

According to Tepco, they also detected Co-60 from the gas samples of reactor1, 2 and 3.

They state it’s a main corrosion product made from activation of structure material. 

From the concentrated water of reactor3, they also measured 98,000 Bq/m3 of Mn-54 (Half-life : 312 days), which is also a corrosion product. Tepco announced the corrosion products from structural material activation, Co-60 and Mn-54 are detected from retained water as well.

Selon Tepco, ils ont aussi relevé du Co 60 dans les échantillons de gaz des réacteurs 1, 2 et 3.

Selon l’eau des gaz du réacteur 3, ils ont aussi relevé 98 000 Bq/m³ de Mn 54 (manganèse, demie-vie : 312 jours) qui est lui aussi un produit de la corrosion. Tepco a déclaré que ces produits issus de la corrosion des matières activées des structures, les Co 60 et Mn 54, sont également relevés dans les eaux confinées.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
