Tepco “5,000,000,000 Bq/m3 of Sr-90 detection was OUT OF CONCERN, so we didn’t announce it”

Following up this article.. Tepco’s spokesman “I have distrust in Tepco itself for not announcing the wrong analysis for this long” [URL]

The reason why Tepco didn’t announce that they measured 5,000,000,000 Bq/m3 of strontium-90 from groundwater was because it was out of concern.

Tepco’s spokesman stated that in the press conference of 2/17/2014.

They obtained the analysis result by September of 2013. However, they didn’t release the report, which was supposed to be because they are investigating the possible mis-analysis. After all, this analysis was not wrong.

Next month, in October, NRA (Nuclear Regulation Authority) came to Fukushima laboratories to inspect their analysis. However Tepco still didn’t report about the extremely high level of Strontium-90. NRA was requesting Tepco to disclose even though they didn’t verify the possible mis-analysis.

It can be observed that Tepco conceals every important fact whoever pressures them. They might be concealing other significant facts even right now.

Downplay it in the beginning, and quietly add more information so nobody notices it. All for not letting the cattle escape. This is their strategy.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
