Cesium-134/137 level jumped up 10~1,000 times much as average on the top of reactor3

According to Tepco, Cs-134/137 levels jumped up in the air on the W-S-W side of the top of reactor3 building.

Cs-134 reading was 1,200 Bq/m3, Cs-137 reading was 2,600 Bq/m3. Usually it’s 1~100 Bq/m3 order.

The sampling date was 8/22/2013.

In the press conference of 8/23/2013, Tepco also commented the dust monitoring alarm went off in front of the seismic isolation building, which may have something to do with the debris removal on the top of reactor3.

However, Tepco has been removing the debris on the top of reactor3 since months ago.

Tepco is aware of the unusual trend of the radiation level of reactor3 and the surrounding area but they haven’t announced the reason.

Steam was also observed on the top of reactor3 for several times but the reason is not verified yet.

Au sommet du réacteur 3 la radioactivité moyenne du césium 134/137 augmente de 10 à 1 000 fois

 

Selon Tepco, la radioactivité en Cs 134/137 augmente dans l’air de  l’E-S-E du sommet du bâtiment du réacteur 3.

Le relevé en Cs 134 était à 1 200 Bq/m³, le Cs 137 à 2 600 Bq/m³. D’habitude ça varie entre 1 et 100 Bq/m³.
L’échantillon est du 22 août 2013.

Au cours de la conférence de presse du 23 août 2013, Tepco a aussi déclaré que l’alarme de la borne de surveillance des poussières s’est déclenchée en face du bâtiment de protection para-sismique, ce qui peut être lié aux retraits des gravas du sommet du réacteur 3.
Néanmoins, Tepco retire les gravas du sommet du réacteur 3 depuis des mois.
Tepco est au courant de la montée inhabituelle de la radioactivité du réacteur 3 et de ce qui l’entoure mais ils n’en ont pas donné de raison.
De la vapeur a aussi plusieurs fois été observée au sommet du réacteur 3 mais la cause n’en est toujours pas établie.  (cf. Le réacteur 3 a fumé jusqu’à 09:00 ce jour (7 août 2013))

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
