Unchained people are giving up living, but animals are fighting to survive in Fukushima.
Chained and abandoned animals are yet struggling to live.
They don’t think about the meaning of lives, but they show us how to live a life.
A filmmaker, Mr. Kitada found a dog surviving in an abandoned barn within 20km area.

This is what we saw when we were shooting a film called “within 20km area, mandatory evacuation zone”.
I followed Mr. Matsumura (53).
He’s still living in Tomiokamachi,12km area from Fukushima plant.
He takes care of the abandoned animals.
Hundreds of cattle were left to die of starving.
We visited the horrifying barn.
As you can see on the picture, 2 tones truck is parked in front of the entrance of the house as if it was rejecting people to come in. We were forced to take a long way to avoid.

Numbers of lives died after the pain of starving. No water, no food, just like hell.
Even if one year and a half have passed, still it stinks strongly.
This is the brutal truth, I hated being a human being.
This is not an impulsive sadness or sympathy, anger or desperation, but endless feeling of hating being a human being.
All of us will have to take this responsibility and accept punishment forever.
We were full of desperation. We almost cursed love, hope, peace or happiness of human.
In this bottom of hell, we found an old dog in the aisle. It was still alive.
It obviously has skin disease of scabies mite, heartworm infection, lack of nutrition and water.
It’s full of ticks and exposed to radiation.
Probably it’s been eating the hundreds of dead cattle.
By only eating the tiny pieces of drought meat sticking around the bones, it has been waiting for the owner for one and a half year. There is nothing else to eat.
“This is the miracle dog..”
Mr. Matsumura muttered to himself.
I found myself shivering for being impressed by his next word.
“This is our destiny. Let’s save this dog.”
He cuddled to carry the dog out of hell.
Maybe this is something called God.
We had him on the truck bed to take to vets out of the hazard area.
It’s not like in Tokyo. Most of the vets are closed on Sundays.
We called everywhere, 2 hours later, finally found one opened in Onahama.
After all, the dog would be treated in the hospital for a few days until Mr. Matsumura takes him over.
He’s occupied to take care of hundreds of cattle and cats, I feel bad for him.
This may sound like an excuse but I already have a puppy rescued in Narahamachi Fukushima, and it has skin disease of scabies mite. I have no room to separate them anymore..
Anyway, the dog was MIRACLE.
I’m going to see it next week again.

現在、製作中の長編記録映画『半径20キロ圏内・強制避難区域』のロケでのことです。
福島第一原発から直線距離12キロの居住困難地域の富岡町に住み続けて、
強制避難区域に置きざりにされた動物たちの面倒をみている
松村直登さん(53)に同行取材。
原発事故以降、蓄主さんに放置され数百頭の牛達が餓死した
惨たらしく忌々しいある牛舎を訪れました。
写真でも分かるとおり蓄農家の入口には2tトラックが人の出入りを拒むように
横付けになっており、かなりの大回りして草むらを掻きわけ強引に進入した。
しばらく5分ほど、ひたすら突き進む・・・。
水も食料もなく約一ヶ月の地獄の苦しみに果てて
餓死していった無数の命。一年半経った今も強烈な臭いを放ってました。
正直、これが現実で、人間でいることが心底、嫌になりました。
瞬発的な哀しみや憐れ、怒りや絶望ではなく、ずっと持続的なその想い。
地球上の全ての人間が今後、未来永劫にゆっくりとその責任と罰を受けなくてはならないだろう。
もう愛だとかそれでも希望だとか、家族の平和や先祖に手を合わせ花を手向け、
人類の幸せを口にする奴は偽善者かこの破滅社会を煽動した
極悪人のいずれかだろう・・・。
全てを信用してはならないし、特に神を信じる人間は転じて悪魔的である。
そんな、地獄の地獄の更に糞のような場所で松村さんと二人で
ただ茫然と立ち尽くしていると更に奥の朽ち果てた通路に一匹の老犬を
発見した。明らかに疥癬ダニ皮膚病、フィラリア感染も確実だろう。
栄養失調、水分不足、マダニも多数寄生、そして放射能被曝。
恐らくこの地に朽ち果てた数百頭の牛の死骸を食べ続けて
生き延びたのだ。牛皮にかろうじて付着した干し肉だけで
この1年半もの長い時間を飼い主の帰りだけをひたすら
待ち続けていたのだろう。他に食べれるものは何もない・・・。
『こいつは奇跡の犬だな・・・』松村さんがポツリと呟いた。
そして、次の言葉に僕は感動の余り身震いした。
『これも運命だ！ 助けてやるべ！』
そう言って、松村さんは徐に老犬を抱いて運び出した。
恐らく、神とは案外こういうものなんだろう・・・。
戦争しか生まないGODなんて、もう二度と信用しない！
動物病院に連れて行くため、老犬を軽トラの荷台に乗せて、
警戒区域の外に出る。
だが東京と違って日曜営業の動物病院が殆ど皆無だった。
あちこち電話し、ようやく2時間半かけて小名浜の病院を探しあてた。
取り敢えず、数日の入院後に松村さんが保護することになった。
それでなくても松村さんは数百頭の牛の面倒と猫の餌やりで
手一杯なのに、僕も申し訳なく感じる。言い訳になるが、僕も
フクシマ楢葉町の疥癬ダニ皮膚病の仔犬の面倒を見ているので
もう隔離する部屋がない・・・。まぁ、言い訳だろう。
とにかく、君は『奇跡の犬』だ・・・。
また、来週会いに行くよ・・・。
今回取材させて頂いた松村さんと富岡町と残された動物たちの応援を

Un réalisateur de films, M. Kitada, a trouvé un chien survivant dans une étable dans la zone des 20 km.

Beaucoup sont mortes de faim. Pas d’eau, rien à manger, l’enfer.
Même au bout d’un an et demi la puanteur est énorme.
C’est la vérité brute, J’étais dégoûté d’être un être humain.
Ce n’est pas une tristesse ou une sympathie impulsive, de la colère ou du désespoir, mais le sentiment inextinguible de détester être un être humain.
Nous devrions tous en assumer la responsabilité et en accepter la sanction définitive.
Nous étions effondrés de désespoir. Nous en avons presque maudit l’amour, l’espoir, la paix ou le bonheur pour les humains.
Au fond de cet enfer, nous avons trouvé un vieux chien dans une allée. Il était toujours vivant.
Il était évidemment dévoré par la gale, la peau malade, une infection de vers du cœur, sous alimenté et déshydraté.
Il était couvert de tiques et dans la radioactivité.
Il a sans doute mangé les centaines de vaches mortes.
Mangeant seulement les minuscules bouts de viande séchée restés collés aux os, il a attendu son maître pendant un an et demi. Il n’y avait rien d’autre à manger.
“Ce chien est un miraculé …”
s’est murmuré M. Matsumura.
J’ai eu des frissons en entendant ce qu’il a dit ensuite.
“C’est notre sort. Sauvons ce chien.”
Il a caressé le chien pour le sortir de l’enfer.
Peut-être que c’est ça, Dieu.
On l’a mis dans la benne du camion pour l’apporter chez un vétérinaire hors de la zone dangereuse.
Ce n’est pas comme à Tokyo. La plupart des vétérinaires sont fermés le dimanche.
On a appelé partout, au bout de deux heures, nous en avons enfin trouvé un ouvert, à Onahama.
Ensuite, le chien sera soigné quelques jours à la clinique jusqu’à ce que que M. Matsumura vienne le chercher.
Il s’occupe de soigner les centaines de bétails, chats et chiens, je me sens mal pour lui.
Cela peut sembler une excuse mais j’ai déjà un chiot sauvé à Narahamachi, à Fukushima, et il a une maladie de peau ou une gale. Je n’ai aucun endroit où le mettre pour les séparer..
De toute façon, ce chien a vécu un MIRACLE.
Je reviendrais le voir la semaine prochaine.
