Following up this article.. [Video] Reactor4 pool fuel restored in common pool [URL]

The video captured the brown material released from the bottom of fuel assembly. It is when the assembly was taken out of the on-premises transportation container.

No explanation was made about what the material is.

I reject the international mass media to read this site without taking a contact with me.I know some of the mass media corporations read Fukushima Diary to understand the trend so they know when to report about Fukushima as if they were independently following it for a long time.
In short, they make you individual readers pay for this site while they pay nothing, and when they publish the “authorized news”, you pay for the “secondhand news”, which is nothing new for us.
This site is free for the individual readers, but not for corporations. In the world, this site is nearly the only source about Fukushima. I came here alone without any supporting organizations, background or anything. I’m not pleased to be exploited by the corporations that didn’t even properly report about Fukushima when 311 took place.

I demand them to take a contact with me BEFORE reading this site whatever the purpose is.

    1. Since the roof blew off FDU-1, FDU-2, FDU-3 and FDU-4, the ‘Great Outdoors’ was dumped into these Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Spent Fuel Pools.

So, flying insects, pollen, rain, hail, sand, dust, plastic wrappers, seagull poop, bat guano, salt-air, acid-rain, smog …

FDU-1 Spent Fuel Pool will contain debris, nuclear fuel fragments and fission products from the FDU-3 supersonic, (Hot-Hot-Hot) atomic blast.

Perhaps the Spent Fuel Pool 4 was spared most of that nuclear fallout from the FDU-3 Atomic Explosion, due to the blast timing.

Since FDU-2 was the last explosion, it may also have minimal direct fallout from the FDU-3 blast. Some fuel may have been blasted in like a cannon or crashed through the roof following the FDU-3 explosion.

What, IF ANYTHING was left in the SFP-3 following the Atomic Explosion in FDU-3 nuclear reactor, is ANYBODY’S GUESS. Something turned the North American skies orange with radioactive iodine and other radionuclides. Perhaps there was some stray fission, and the resulting fission products, from SPF-3 involved.

      Sincerely,

      Bill Duff

      1. “Something turned the North American skies orange with radioactive iodine and other radionuclides. ”

        You have pictures, of course?

        1. V. I. Diemos, go eat a booger,

That portion of humanity living in the USA EXPERIENCED and witnessed the sky turn orange from the Vast Radionuclide Storm. We can safely presume that the North Pacific Islandia population also EXPERIENCED and witnessed the macabre meteorlogical phenomenon.

I am not advised on whether Mexico, Canada, Africa, Europe, Mideast and Asia had sufficient radioiodine concentrations for OBVIOUS visibility. I expect that they did.

It is merely to those with eyes.

          Sincerely,

          Billy Duff

  1. Multiple Spent Fuel Pool Fires were reported in NRC internal email communications. Spent Fuel Pool Four (SPF-4) FIRE was EXPLICITLY described.

Salt Water from the Pacific Ocean was PUMPED into SPF-1, SPF-2, SPF-3 & SPF-4.

Deflagrations (subsonic explosions) occurred in FDU-1, FDU-2 & FDU-4 and destroyed the upper building structures.

A SUPERSONIC DETONATION occurred in FDU-3.

Therefore, it is NOT surprising to find SILT, Sand, Sediment, DEBRIS, RUST and RADIOACTIVE FALLOUT in NEW SPF-4 Fuel Rod Assemblies.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

    1. Did I mention boron? If memory serves boron impregnation of SFP racks is, if memory serves, somewhat standard.

Oh and I would have pumped all the boron I could beg, borrow, buy or steal during the circa 311 outages and SPF fires.

And failing that, graphite (every pencil in Japan) and charcoal.

Debris is normal in OPEN AIR environments. Following the explosions all these Spent Fuel Pools ‘went topless’ for months.

I just hope and pray that the Fuel Bundles do not stick halfway up and halfway down, from wedged debris. Some of the Bundles probably will stick. That will be great fun.

      Sincerely,

      Bill Duff

  2. I would be very worried if there was none. I would scream fake! The speed they are going is bugging the hell out of me. That was a little to fast for my taste to handle something that might be fragile from salt water decay.

  3. Surreal pictures…. Mankind in is his worst suits…

Every workers wearing Nuclear protection suits and looking each elements able to stop any biological life on earth.

    It’s a nightmare…

  4. Just curious, if the new assemblies have RUST, what does that say for their continued safe storage? Just a thought..they have now moved damaged fuel assemblies to the COMMON FUEL STORAGE building..with a LOT more fuel. Anyone know how much is stored there???

    1. Given that TEPCO, Japan, WHO & the IAEA cannot be considered RELIABLE sources of nuclear related information …

The OFFICIAL STORY goes, that FDNPP fuel over about 8 years old, should have been stored in the ground level, Common Spent Fuel Pool. The reactors are about 25 – 35 years old. So, if the OFFICIAL STORY is true, then there is about 15-20 years of the OLDER fuel from every FDNPP reactor in Common Spent Fuel Pools already.

The very oldest fuel will have been moved to Dry Cask Storage.

By the way, IF the OFFICIAL STORY is correct, then the TEPCO Fukushima spent fuel handling procedures are FAR and AWAY better than anything in the USA.

NOTHING gives us any particular assurance that the OFFICIAL STORY is accurate. But that’s their story and they’re stickin to it.

      Maybe so, maybe no.

      Sincerely,

      Bill Duff

  5. Pixeltated video at top of cask. Bet this is to HIDE the name of the company who made these casks 23 (TWENTY-THREE) years ago. Reuse old, thats the middle name of TEPCO. Otherwise, why not allow the name of the producing company to be known??? Could it because its no longer in business??

    1. The cask is presumably NOT being used for it’s intended purpose, as the lawyers and the contract documents (most-likely) say.

This fuel is damaged goods, and that will not match the procurement documents and products. It is a contractual misuse of the products, so YOYO (you’re On Your Own).

I would sell it to TEPCO, but without a warranty, and with about 3 inches thick of disclaimers. I am not in the business, but would expect that to be normal.

Some of the Fuel Assemblies in SPF-3 may have been in a Stray Fission Event when the FDU-3 reactor demonstrated an atomic explosion on world tv.

We might want the Japanese to haul smaller loads, when they get to SPF-3. The New & Spent Fuel in SPF-3 may be kinda supercharged.

      Sincerely,

      Bill Duff

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
