One of the last 2 thermometers in reactor2 RPV was broken, according to Tepco. Now there is only 1 thermometers left near the bottom part of the RPV.
Tepco stated it is possibly because they put an false level of voltage during the insulation resistance.
They found this out in the afternoon of 2/18/2014, but didn’t announce it, which is because “they were taking time to evaluate the effect”.
Tepco states they can still measure the temperature with the other thermometer, and will install a new meter.
However they haven’t announced when they plan to have it installed. Last time when they installed the new thermometers, they took nearly half a year.
In case the molten fuel is scattered around in RPV and PCV as Fukushima Diary assumes, they cannot detect the potential recriticality only with 1 thermometer.

Selon Tepco, un des 2 derniers thermomètres de l’enceinte de confinement primaire (RPV) du réacteur 2 est cassé. Il n’y reste plus maintenant que celui qui est près du fond de la RPV.
Tepco affirme qu’il est possible que ce soit parce qu’ils ont envoyé un trop fort voltage pendant leurs tests de résistance de l’isolation.
Ils s’en sont aperçu dans l’après-midi du 18 février 2014 mais ils n’en ont rien dit, “parce qu’il leur a fallu du temps pour en évaluer les conséquences”.
Tepco affirme qu’ils sont toujours en mesure de relever les températures avec l’autre thermomètre et qu’ils en installeront un nouveau.
Ils ne précisent néanmoins pas quand ils prévoient de le faire. La dernière fois qu’ils ont eu à réinstaller un nouveau thermomètres, ça leur a pris pratiquement six mois.
Ils ne peuvent pas détecter les éventuelles reprises de criticité avec un seul thermomètre pour le cas où, comme le pense Fukushima Diary (cf. [Court édito] Où est le combustible fondu ?]), le combustible fondu est éparpillé dans la RPV (enceinte principale) et la PCV (enceinte primaire).

Le minimiser au début et ajouter tranquillement de nouvelles information pour que personne ne le remarque. Tout pour que le troupeau ne s’échappe pas. C’est leur stratégie.
