Tepco to shield reactor4 against reactor3 / “Reactor3 is too radioactive”

Note : If you are from the international mass media, Don’t read this site before taking a contact with me.

Tepco decided to shield the operation floor of reactor4 building.

They are removing the fuel from reactor4 pool. However, the radiation from “reactor3”, which is in the north of reactor4, is increasing the exposure dose of the workers.

Tepco states they can reduce the dose rate of the reactor4 workers by 50 ~ 66 %.

3 years are going to pass soon, however the state of the inside of reactor3 hasn’t been verified yet.

I reject the international mass media to read this site without taking a contact with me.I know some of the mass media corporations read Fukushima Diary to understand the trend so they know when to report about Fukushima as if they were independently following it for a long time.
In short, they make you individual readers pay for this site while they pay nothing, and when they publish the “authorized news”, you pay for the “secondhand news”, which is nothing new for us.
This site is free for the individual readers, but not for corporations. In the world, this site is nearly the only source about Fukushima. I came here alone without any supporting organizations, background or anything. I’m not pleased to be exploited by the corporations that didn’t even properly report about Fukushima when 311 took place.

I demand them to take a contact with me BEFORE reading this site whatever the purpose is.

  1. The Gamma Radiation from FDU-3, together with the Induced Gamma Radiation surrounding the FDU-3 Rubble is deadly.

It is a good idea to shield the FDU-4 workers from this intense gamma radiation.

The HammerHeaded Nail, is a cheeky bastard; and presumes to dictate from an empty headed vacuity.

This blog does not belong to the HHN.

The HHN Troll does not define the debate, discussion and/or standards of evidence.

Trolls/Shills are not owed any courtesy, form or function.

Only, on those RARE occasions, when a Troll/Shill raises a point of some general interest are they even responded to.

        1. Until a possible ban on this commenter for continued unprovoked personal attacks is examined by Mochizuki-san, i would suggest silence as the best remedy.

I will refrain from directly responding to Niall, too.

          Don’t feed the bears! :O

          1. I just thought you’d want to mention the evidence, considering you stated it as fact in 14 other comments.

            1. “the Induced Gamma Radiation surrounding the FDU-3 Rubble is deadly.”

I think this is a lie, and that you are trying to deceive the readers of this blog. What evidence can youeoffer to show that this statement is true? What even leads you to think that this might be true?

People come to tkis blog to understandeand learn, and its very disrespectful that you post these misinformations and lies among the actual information the author works hard to uncover.

              1. A total Lie,

First, the HammerHeaded Nail does not ‘THINK’, in any rational, evidence based fashion. The HHN merely attacks in a trollish, manner.

2nd, The HHN does not Think ‘this is a lie”, The HHN is a pathological, and likely paid liar as well as a serial, nescient fool. Thus anything that the HHN disagrees with, within the realm of nuclear reality, tilts the scales toward ‘truth’.

A broken clock is correct TWICE a day. HHN, not so often.

We reserve the RIGHT to continue parsing the HHN LIES, as they are legion. But since the HHN LIES are legion, we shall not slavishly respond to the gawdamn LYING moron. It would be akin to barking back at a dog.

                Sincerely,

                Bill Duff

  2. Containment Failure,

FDU-3 is what 99% containment failure looks like.

If you count the fuel that was blasted into the air and fell back into the building in a positive light.

If you count fuel leaving the scene and falling back as TWO containment failures the number would exceed UNITY. Sometimes informally referred to as 101%.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

  3. -something- was blown into the air. That it was fuel is your crazy theory. There’s no evidence to support it. I’m sure you’ll link to some irrelevant wikipedia page as PROOF but the fact remains that no credible sources are agreeing with you.

Fuel Fragmentation, Relocation, and Dispersal During the Loss-of-Coolant Accident

Published March 2012: In light of recent results from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) research program […] a comprehensive review of past research programs for observations related to the phenomena of fuel fragmentation, relocation, and dispersal [was conducted]. […] Fuel dispersal is the ejection of fuel fragments or particles through a rupture or opening in the cladding. […] Fuel fragmentation—that is, fracture of the fuel pellet into large fragments—appears to occur as soon as any meaningful amount of burnup is accumulated, as low as a few megawatt days per metric ton uranium. Fragmentation in irradiated fuel occurred in all but one case for which it was assessed. The only case in which it did not occur was in an unirradiated fuel rod. […] The review of existing data confirms that fragmentation appears to almost always occur, regardless of burnup and other variables […] Said in another way, the review of existing data confirms that fuel fragmentation and subsequent relocation are real physical phenomena expected under LOCA conditions. Therefore, given that these physical phenomena are expected and with the move to best-estimate methodologies, accounting for the impact of fuel relocation is appropriate.

        1. Dumbass

Everybody ELSE knows what happened at Fukushima,

Reactors Fried, People Died, TEPCO & Obama LIED.

The HHN is WAY too gawdamn stupid, to pass a kindergarden entrance exam.

          Sincerely,

          Bill Duff

    2. Niall: TEPCO has tours of the plant site and supplies protective clothing, masks, hood, radiation badge. Go there and request not to wear any of their protective gear while on tour and see what happens.Maybe you will have a chance to skinny dip in the man-made harbor too, go for it.

      1. Its a leaky nuclear reactor, of course they wear protective clothes. My point is that time after time Bill states with absolute certainty that the reactor exploded and blew fuel for miles around. There is no evidence for this, just a few confused reports and a video which could show anything. However Bill Duff exaggerates it all into epic distaster, claims that there is tons of proof and never presents any.
He is free to believe what he dikes, however this kind of crackpot ranting is damaging the credibility of an otherwise very useful blog. People come here to understand and learn about what is going on, and I find it unacceptable that they receive a twisted and mostly imaginary version of events from some of the commenters. That the commenters disguise their lies and exaggerations in irrele_ant scientific sounding articles just makes it worse.

And by the way, I never attacked anyone. I asked for supporting evidence for your claims.

I hereby formally request that Mochizuki-san ban this commenter, known as Niall, for his continued unprovoked attacks on others.

      1. Black smoke indicates that something is burning, Bill, not that 10 times the radiation from chernobyl was blasted from a reactor in a nuclear explosion that turned the skies over America orange.

      2. Here is another example of an unprovoked attack by Niall:

        It is shameful. 🙁

        1. Did you already forget the part where you called anothe reader ‘the village idiot’?

And you ARE using multiple name toepost under. I suggest the admin of the blog can see this from youreip address and log in times, if not from the style of writing.

          1. Village Idiot Diemos,

I have repeatedly referred to Diemos as the Village Idiot and as V. I. Diemos on this blog, and when it was open, the BRAWM webpage. Others occasionally use these ‘handles’, but usually in a direct quote or paraphrase.

Somebody else came up with the DieMost part, which I sometimes use.

Diemos has repeatedly earned the Village Idiot DieMost label, IMHO.

            Sincerely,

            Bill Duff

        2. This is posted as a reply to my post above.

It would seem that somebody may have confused me with Mr. Duff.

If one were to think such a thing, one would only need look at the Gravatar images to the left of all posts, including on other sites. That image follows us whereever we post, does it not? Also note that there are times when Mr. Duff and I post at about the same time. Clearly we are not the same persona.

I would respectfully ask if Deimos concurs.
He has been verbally wrestling with Mr. Duff for many months now, and should be able to confirm that my style of language and mannerisms clearly differ from those of Mr. Duff’s.

      3. My apologies to Mochizuki-san for being far off-topic here, yet i believe the circumstances warrant.

I have spent a good part of my night reviewing this, and am risking my university grades by doing so before an exam.
What i see is that Niall is not the only one personally attacking others.

        A proposal comes to mind.

        We agree to disagree.
When we argue, we do so without getting personal.
This means no name-calling or belittling other points of view.
If one disagrees with another, simply state “I respecfully disagree”.
Link some evidence to support your argument.

I believe in free speech, even if i strongly disagree with another’s statements – even if it involves hister’s balls.

One statement made by Niall intrigued me.
Quote: “You can only release honest and realistic engineering information to people who can look rationally at the results, otherwise you just get an angry fearful mob ready to burn down the unfortunate victim of their witchhunt”
        . quoted from: http : //fukushima-diary.com/2013/12/most-of-fuel-not-remaining-in-reactor1-core-tepco-but-molten-fuel-is-stopped-in-the-concrete-base/#comment-1385063

I would paraphase Niall as follows:
“Release honest and realistic engineering information to people ” [such as Mochizuki-san, so they] ” can look rationally at the results, otherwise you just get an angry fearful mob ready to burn down the unfortunate victim of their witchhunt.”

As it is now, generally people would rather believe anybody but TEPCO and/or governance on both sides of the Pacific.
This is a dangerous situation considering the recent moves of our collective enemies.
        .
        .
I will now leave this matter in Mochizuki-san’s very capable hands, and mention it no further (unless somebody breaks this proposed “Modus vivendi”).

        1. Modus Vivendi:

          . see: https : //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modus_vivendi
          . or: http : //www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/modus%20vivendi

        2. Comity is over-rated, IMHO

I do not disagree with the facts and/or allegations made by Dud against Niall. They are sufficiently accurate as stated. Niall obviously is a serial liar, troll and an idiot.

It is however, IMHO, USEFUL to have OBVIOUS liars, trolls and idiots ALLOWED in the court of Public Opinion. Their evident brain-dead, purple KOOLAID guzzling, and shameless hucstering bullshit; provides an excellent point of attack against their beloved whoremonger, the civilian nuclear power industry.

Robert’s Rules of Order are not essential to informed debate, as informed debate proceeded such comity by millenia. Martin Luther of the reformers/protestants would inquire about the syphilis case of the Bishops and their mothers. The personal insult, can be entertaining and used by both sides.

This blog belongs to Mochizuki-sensei. His rules and his judgement are his business.

I do not require ANY protection from buttheads like Niall. But feel free to point out their lies, logical-flaws, suicidal tendencies, half-truths and gratuitous personal attacks. The interested reader will benefit from such ‘score keeping’.

Open debate is sometimes more fun than formal debate.

          Sincerely,

          Bill Duff

  4. In My Humble Opinion,

“War is diplomacy, by other means.”

Comity has failed. Scientific Integrity has failed. The criminal Legal system has failed. The regulatory legal system has failed. The criminal legal system has failed. The parliamentary system has failed.

The Nuclear Engineers never adopted a Code of Ethics. So ethics are untried, and thus failed in the civilian nuclear power industry.

Direct, violent, deadly force reprisals, against the civilian nuclear power industry, ARE therefore, (IMHO), appropriate, ethical, moral, and necessary. The aggrieved Nipponese are not an ignorant mob, they would form a HIGHLY informed and vigilant citizenry bringing the ‘bad boys’ to harsh, deserved justice (IMHO).

In such circumstances, talk is pussy, IMHO.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

    1. Unintended repeat

The civil legal system has failed.

The equity legal system has failed.

      The social order has failed.

      The honor system has failed.

Plenty of failure to go around in Japan & USA.

    1. Station Shielding,

Present circumstances compel closure of the civilian nuclear power plant program. Nuclear fission has not proven to be a beneficial method to generate electricity. The civilian nuclear power plant initiative, ‘Atoms 4 Peace’ has been an economic non-starter.

It has further been a public health and environmental disaster. Truth, the scientific method, scientific integrity, public health and public policy have fallen victim to the bombastic propaganda of ‘Team Nuke’.

Therefore, I favor scaling the civilian nuclear power initiative down to a tiny fraction of its former self. No further pseudo-commercial nuclear power plants should be constructed for the foreseeable future. A few research reactors, of various types and sizes, should be constructed to build a better fund of knowledge on the subject and as a hedge against an unknown future.

      Sincerely,

      Bill Duff

      1. Now that the MegaTons for MegaWatts program winds to a halt, I agree.

If only there were a way to generate medical isotopes from the remaining weapons and waste, instead of using cyclotrons to generate more.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
