Cs-134/137 detected double as food safety limit from water purification plant soil in Saitama

190 Bq/Kg of Cs-134/137 was detected from water purification plant soil in Saitama prefecture. This is nearly the double of the food safety limit as 100 Bq/Kg.

Saitama prefectural government announced the analysis result.

 

The second highest Cs-134/137 density was 180 Bq/Kg. Cs-134/137 density exceeded the food safety limit at 3 of 5 prefectural water purification plants.

The sampling date was 11/28/2014.

 

The food safety limit is not applied to water purification plant soil. However it contaminates tap-water for sure.

190 Bq/kg de Cs-134/137 ont été relevés dans le sol d’une station d’épuration de la préfecture de Saitama. C’est près du double de la limite de sécurité alimentaire qui est de 100 Bq/kg.
La préfecture de Saitama a publié les résultats de ses analyses.

Le second record de radioactivité en Cs-134/137 est de 180 Bq/kg. La radioactivité en Cs-134/137 dépasse la limite de sécurité alimentaire dans 3 des 5 stations d’épuration préfectorales.
Les échantillonnages ont été faits le 28 novembre 2014.

La limite de sécurité alimentaire ne s’applique pas aux sols des stations d’épuration, néanmoins la pollution des eaux du robinet est certaine.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
