In 311, only Fukushima Medical University staff took potassium iodide tablets

Fukushima Medical University distributed potassium iodide only to their staff, doctors and their family members on 311.

From their internal materials, they distributed 3,814 potassium iodide tablets to each department by 3/15/2011. Even a “FAX corner” was given them.

Nearly 8,000 potassium iodide tablets were distributed in total, which includes students.

Meanwhile, Fukushima prefectural government distributed approx 1.14 million potassium iodide tables to the local governments but the government didn’t order to give them to individual citizens except for Miharu-machi and a few other local governments.

  1. I suppose nobody got the memo @ FMU that KI is generally ineffective against radioisotopes other than that of Iodine.

Quote: “KI blocks the thyroid gland’s uptake of radioactive iodine and thus could reduce the risk of thyroid cancers and other diseases that might otherwise be caused by exposure to radioactive iodine that could be dispersed in a severe nuclear accident. KI is not effective against radiation contamination from a “dirty bomb” since radioactive iodine is not present.”

    1. Radioiodine was a major component of the early fallout from Fukushima, and iodine tablets significantly reduce the risk of thyroid cancer in people exposed to such fallout. Some protection is better than none, so it made sense for FMU staff and their families to take the tablets. Japanese authorities did the right thing (for once!) distributing iodine tablets to evacuation centres in the days following the meltdowns. The real story here is that:

      a) Iodine tablets should have been much more widely distributed, particularly to children.

      b) People, particularly those with children, should have been evacuated from a much wider area than the designated evacuation zone. That includes the children of FMU staff, since as you point out iodine tablets provide only partial protection.

  2. Too Bad,

The use of a million KI tablets, in children and child-age-bearing females would have substantially improved ONE ASPECT of the 311 nuclear disaster. 50 million would have been better.

50 million courses of RadioGardase (INSOLUBLE Prussian Blue), would have substantially improved the outcome, for many Japanese as well.

Routine Sheltering-In-Place, showering, clothes changes and clean food/water precautions would have reduced the Public Health impact to virtually ZERO.

Japan screwed themselves for 10,000 years, TIMES 10,000 years, by their stupidity, stubbornness, greed and lying.

Their descendants will eternally pay the price for this betrayal of their ancestors and race.

    ZERO Honor

  3. Fukushima Radioactive Fallout is killing the Japanese People and the Pacific Ocean

    Occam’s Razor – http math ucr edu/ (home/baez/physics/General/occam) html — http www Princeton edu/ (~achaney/tmve/wiki100k/docs/Occam_s_razor) html

Occam’s (or Ockham’s) razor is a principle attributed to the 14th century logician and Franciscan friar Father William of Ockham. Ockham was the village in the English county of Surrey where he was born. The principle states that “Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily.” Sometimes it is quoted in one of its original Latin forms to give it an air of authenticity: “Pluralitas non est ponenda sine neccesitate”, “Frustra fit per plura quod potest fieri per pauciora” & “Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem”

Many scientists have adopted or reinvented Occam’s Razor, as in Leibniz’s “identity of observables” and Isaac Newton stated the rule: “We are to admit no more causes of natural things than such as are both true and sufficient to explain their appearances.” It is also named: lex parsimoniae (translating to the law of parsimony, law of economy or law of succinctness). The most useful statement of the principle for scientists is: “when you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is the better.” In physics we use the razor to shave away metaphysical concepts.

“When you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is (usually) the better.”

    1. Well here’s a competing theory. We’re dumping chemical pollution into the pacific, clogging it with microscopic particles of plastic, increasing it’s acidity through CO2 and over fishing it to death.

Since the pacific was dying before fukushima happened. We can conclude that this is a better hypothesis than fukushima radiation.

Oh, and in honor of Niall I’ll say,” Mr Bill Duff posts the same thing in multiple threads”

      1. Fukushima Radiation Poisoning

Could also be ‘Pixie Dust’, ‘Warmer-Hysteria’, Sun-Spots, Bad-Karma and/or The 2nd Angel from the Revelation of St. John the Divine …

However, the PHYSICAL unifying event in most of the collapse of Japanese Public Health and the Vast Pacific Regional Die-off, is the Fukushima Nuclear Radiation Contamination.

        Not ‘Faerie Dust’ from ‘Tinkerbell’

  4. Japan has not, to my present knowledge, closed 100% of its Chemical Sector for 3 Years.

Also, thus far, Japan has not substantially increased their budget for chemical spill cleanups and chemical-related health testing of the public. These Fukushima clean-up estimates still appear to be an order of magnitude or two, on the LOW side. Still they are rather large numbers.

    http rt com/ (news/homeless-recruited-fukushima-nuclear-965/)

Meanwhile, it is said the complete decontamination of the facility will take three decades and could cost up to 10 trillion yen ($125 billion) – equal to around 2 percent of Japan’s gross domestic product or 11 percent of the country’s annual budget.

According to the Fukushima plant operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco), dismantling the Fukushima Daiichi plant will require at least 12,000 workers just through 2015.

It appears that Diemos is ‘grasping at straws’, like a drowning man.

  5. Curiously absent

Similarly, we are not presently advised of any significant number of Japan Medical School faculty, residents, medical students, staff and Allied Health Students taking EMERGENCY Chemical Agent Toxicity … DETOX precautions, agents and protocols following the 911 nuclear disaster at Fukushima.

No Japanese citizen networks were formed to emergency map chemical spill locations following 911.

We could go on, but Diemos is uselessly and desperately grasping at straws.

    No evidence of significant concern

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
