Following up this article.. 60,000 Bq/m3 of Strontium-90 detected from groundwater of 25m underground [URL]

480,000 Bq/m3 of Tritium was measured from this groundwater taken 25m underground.

The measurement date was 1/10/2014.

Having Cesium-134/137 measured increasing, Tepco took the sample from the new deeper part of permeable layer and also after pumping up all the water from the well.

As a result, Ce-134/137 density was lower than detectable level in the sample taken from the deeper part. However, Tritium was detected from groundwater after emptying the well once.

The tritium density has been lower than detectable level since 12/10/2013. However, 780,000 Bq/m3 of Tritium was measured from the deeper part on 12/3/2013 too.

There is a possibility that Tritium is flowing in the deeper part of this permeable layer.

Regarding this Tritium measurement, Tepco stated they don’t know the reason, but because it’s not significant level, it wouldn’t affect the environment.

Greens dispute climate scientists on nuclear power

Environmentalists are pushing back against four prominent climate scientists who say the green movement should embrace nuclear power plant construction to help fight climate change.

Greenpeace wasn’t swayed by the letter from scientists James Hansen, Ken Caldeira, Tom Wigley and Kerry Emanuel. “While we respect Dr. Hansen and his advocacy to raise the alarm about catastrophic climate change, we thoroughly disagree that nuclear power has any role to play in addressing the threat posed by global warming. If we are to abate the worst impacts of climate change we need solutions that are fast, affordable, and safe. Nuclear is none of these,” said Jim Riccio, nuclear power analyst with Greenpeace USA.

Damon Moglen of (FOE Friends of the Earth) said the group believes nuclear is a “dirty, dangerous, overly costly and proliferation risky failed technology of the 20th century.” He instead said there’s a need to “urgently” ramp up deployment of renewable sources and energy efficiency technologies in order to curb greenhouse gases.

And Michael Brune, executive director of the anti-nuclear Sierra Club, had this to say in a statement Tuesday:

The Sierra Club and our 2.1 million members and supporters respect these scientists, and thank them for their years of service. Unfortunately, we will have to agree to disagree with them on this one. While we agree that the climate crisis is the most urgent challenge of our time, this group is fails to acknowledge that wind, solar and efficiency are the faster, cheaper, and safer way to fight the climate threat.

  2. In pursuit of accurate data, plausible interpretation, VALID models and cost-effective solutions.

We (the People) fully agree with the Greenies that:

Nuclear power is a “dirty, dangerous, overly costly and proliferation risky failed technology of the 20th century.”

“we need solutions that are fast, affordable, and safe. Nuclear is none of these,”

There is an urgent need to ramp-up … “energy efficiency technologies”

We remain unconvinced that there is a valid scientific basis for:

The ‘global warming’ and/or ‘climate-change’ hypotheses.

    Realizable renewable Quads

Instantaneous, reliable POWER capabilities of intermittent wind & solar technologies.

By we, I mean Vox Populi Vox Dei and/or Posse Comitatus.

Energy/Power efficiency, Point of Use energy conversion, and Natural Gas are convincing.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

    1. We are NOT convinced,

WE ARE convinced that the Earth Population is increasing rapidly.

      However, WE ARE NOT convinced:

      1) in anthropomorphic climate change

      2) by the Malthusian scare tactics of looming collapse & extinction.

Earth is a HUGE and mostly empty planet. We do need to be a bit smarter in the way we deal with our energy/power needs and our USE of the planet.

By the way, I almost always discuss general energy/power matters in the 1 second time frame, to keep the math and units (dimensional analysis) SIMPLE for the non-engineers. ALWAYS TRY to think in terms of second-by-second; and energy/power questions and answers become MUCH simpler, without sacrificing much in the way of accuracy.

      Sincerely,

      Bill Duff

  3. 48 Volt DC

The 19th century telephone ‘land line’ system uses a 48 Volt DC, positive ground system. These systems operated safely, for over a century, in virtually every home and business in North America.

A 48 Volt (positive ground) DC system is assembled with (4) car batteries or (2) airplane batteries, connected in series. The physical layout is: To-Ground (+- +- +- +-) To-Appliances. The ventilation, contact safety, assembly, charging and maintenance requirements of 48 Volt (positive ground) DC systems are suitable for consumer applications. Any present and/or futuristic battery technology is suitable, IF (and only IF) a wide-voltage appliance design-requirement is ENFORCED.

A 48 Volt (positive ground) DC System can provide sufficient, instantaneous power for MOST routine home applications, except for the HEAVY USE appliances, such as refrigeration compressors, cooking and clothes driers. These HEAVY USE appliances are most efficiently and reliably met by ‘Point of Use’ Energy Conversion by Natural Gas and/or LPG.

A 48 Volt (positive ground) DC system can be RELIABLY charged by any site suitable combination of: Wind, Solar Voltaic, Natural Gas (fuel cell or internal combustion) and/or the AC Electrical Grid.

A 48 Volt (positive ground) DC system is a suitable platform for your precious ‘renewables’. It is very possibly THE ONLY SUITABLE platform for ‘renewables’ in the home environment.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

    1. Battery boxes are HEAVY and need VENTILATION (for explosive hydrogen gas) and climate regulation ~ (60 – 80 Farenheit) or (15 – 27 Celcius).

Batteries are therefore, FAR more suitable for HOME and BUSINESS (fixed site) applications than for TRANSPORTATION (car) applications.

I am a degreed electrical engineer, and have worked with this stuff in all kinds of OFF GRID and AC GRID applications. So there is ZERO guesswork going on here.

      Sincerely,

      Bill Duff

  4. I am SPECIFYING this, for simple reasons.

There is FAR too much DISINFORMATION, ‘out there’.

Our ‘Central Planners’ are corrupt and/or ‘Dumb as Bricks’.

I prefer ‘SOLUTIONS’ that actually work.

I prefer to solve ACTUAL problems, than to serve a thousand private agendas.

Individuals, Nations and continents which ADOPT this approach will ‘live long and prosper’. Those who do not SHALL freeze/melt and starve in the dark.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

  5. We ARE convinced that:

Individual Freedoms, Human Rights, Self Governance & Regulations are essential to prosperity and peace.

Communism is a FAILED economic and FAILED social system

Corporatism (Fascism) is a disastrous social system and FAILING economic system.

Instantaneous, unrestricted Democracy is a disaster.

The United Nations like the League of Nations, is a disaster.

Theocracies suck, unless an ACTUAL, visible ‘god’ is in charge.

Constitutional Republics can work fairly well for a century or two.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

  6. Moving toward FUNCTIONAL economics, science and governments:

We have observed that speculation on margin (credit) quickly leads to economic collapse. (Gambling with OPM)

That socializing losses and privatizing gains quickly leads to economic collapse. (Gambling with ‘Other People’s Money’)

That no class is suitable to ‘bear reign’ (govern others).

That Nuclear Power stations spawn pandemics, regional desolation, economic collapse and disruption of scientific integrity.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
