Nagoya Uni “Significantly small amount of fuel remaining in Reactor 2” / No announcement about underground

On 3/20/2015, Nagoya University announced they SAW the remaining nuclear fuel in Reactor 2 is significantly less than Reactor 5, which proved meltdown also occurred in Reactor 2.

They have been “scanning” Reactor 2 and Reactor 5, which is believed to have sound nuclear fuel inside the Reactor core, since last Spring by using muon detecting system.

As a result, they confirmed the remaining fuel is significantly less in Reactor 2 than Reactor 5, but need the further analysis for the precise amount of fuel remaining in Reactor core.

From their report published by now, it seems like there is nothing remaining at least in reactor pressure vessel.

Though they state it is possible to install the muon detecting system underground to scan the underground situation, the released report only mentioned the part above the ground.

Le 20 mars 2015, l’Université de Nagoya déclare qu’ils ont VU que le combustible nucléaire restant dans le réacteur 2 est beaucoup moins abondant que dans le réacteur 5, ce qui prouve qu’une fusion a bien eu lieu dans le réacteur 2 aussi.

Avec le système de détection des muons et depuis le début du printemps, ils “balayent” les réacteurs 2 et 5, supposés contenir dans leur cœur du combustible en bon état.
Au final, ils confirment qu’il en reste beaucoup moins dans le réacteur 2 que dans le réacteur 5 mais ils ont besoin de faire d’autres analyses pour préciser les quantités exactes restantes dans le cœur des réacteurs.
Selon leur dernier compte-rendu publié en ce moment, il semble qu’il ne reste rien dans l’enceinte pressurisée au moins.
Ce rapport ne parle que de la situation au-dessus du sol bien qu’ils affirment possible d’installer le système de détection des muons en sous-sol pour en établir l’état.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
