Various nuclides density marked the highest level in groundwater from multiple locations of Fukushima plant

At least 4 nuclides density became the highest in groundwater according to Tepco. The groundwater was taken from the sea side of Reactor 2, where Tepco is trying to construct underground frozen wall nearby.

The sample was collected on 10/9/2014.

It’s Cs-134/137, Co-60 and all β nuclide that became the highest level.

Cs-134 : 17,000,000 Bq/m3

Cs-137 : 51,000,000 Bq/m3

Co-60 : 2,100,000 Bq/m3

All β : 2,100,000,000 Bq/m3

 

Especially Co-60 density became 2.5 times much as the previous highest reading measured on 9/29/2014.

Tepco has nearly 10 borings around this well on the sea side of Reactor 2 , but they haven’t announced the analysis result of other borings.

 

Also, all β nuclide density in groundwater taken from the mountain side jumped up.

The last reading on 10/3/2014 was 670,000 Bq/m3 but it marked 14,000,000 Bq/m3 on 10/8/2014. The previous highest reading was 8,300,000 Bq/m3 measured on 2/28/2014.

 

About all of these increases in radioactive density, Tepco states they assume it was caused by the rainfall of the typhoon.

However, they haven’t taken any fundamental countermeasures against the next potential typhoon.

Au moins 4 radionucléides ont atteint
des records dans les eaux souterraines, selon Tepco. L’eau souterraine a été prise sur le côté mer du réacteur 2 près de l’endroit où Tepco essaye de construire un mur souterrain congelé.
L’échantillon a été pris le 9 octobre 2014.
Les records sont pour les Cs 134/137, Co 60 et radioactivité β totale.

Cs-134 ……. : 17 000 000 Bq/m³ (17 millions)
Cs-137 ……. : 51 000 000 Bq/m³ (51 millions)
Co-60 …….. : 2 100 000 Bq/m³ (2,1 millions)
totale β …. : 2 100 000 000 Bq/m³ (2,1 milliards)

La radioactivité du cobalt 60 en particulier est devenue 2,5 fois plus forte que son dernier record du 29 septembre 2014.
Côté mer du réacteur 2, Tepco dispose de près de 10 forages autour de ce puits mais ils n’ont pas communiqué les résultats des analyses des autres forages.

En outre, la radioactivité β totale de l’eau souterraine prise côté montage a également grimpé.
Le dernier relevé du 3 octobre 2014 était de 670 000 Bq/m³ mais il passe à 14 000 000 Bq/m³ au 8 octobre 2014. Le précédent record était de 8 300 000 Bq/m³, le 28 février 2014.

Tepco affirme que toutes ces augmentations de radioactivité ont été provoquées par les pluies du typhon.
Cependant, ils n’ont pris aucune mesure spéciale de protection contre le prochain.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
