Tepco “If NRA turns down restart application of K.K. nuclear plant, they would have to increase the power rates more”

Note : If you are from the international mass media, Don’t read this site before taking a contact with me.

For the survival of corporation, Tepco must increase of power rates even more if the restart application of K.K. (Kashiwazaki-Kariwa) nuclear plant is turned down, their president Hirose stated in the announcement of financial statements press conference on 10/31/2013.

They got into the black to make 142 billion yen of ordinary profit in the second quarter of 2013. However, Hirose commented it may be challenging to make profit through the annual term of 2013.

Tepco explains they have been cutting the cost as much as they could. Now the only way to make profit is to raise the sales by restarting K.K. nuclear plant or increase the power rates.

If NRA (Nuclear Regulation Authority) turns down Tepco’s restart application, Tepco would have to increase the power rates even more.

It’s been nearly one month since Tepco submitted the application to NRA, but NRA has almost not reviewed it for the continuous accidents about contaminated water issue in Fukushima nuclear plant.

I reject the international mass media to read this site without taking a contact with me.I know some of the mass media corporations read Fukushima Diary to understand the trend so they know when to report about Fukushima as if they were independently following it for a long time.
In short, they make you individual readers pay for this site while they pay nothing, and when they publish the “authorized news”, you pay for the “secondhand news”, which is nothing new for us.
This site is free for the individual readers, but not for corporations. In the world, this site is nearly the only source about Fukushima. I came here alone without any supporting organizations, background or anything. I’m not pleased to be exploited by the corporations that didn’t even properly report about Fukushima when 311 took place. I demand them to take a contact with me BEFORE reading this site whatever the purpose is.

  1. I am not completely familiar with the Japan electrical grid, regulatory, political and/or economic circumstances. However, the USA power generation in particular and electrical grid in general are NOT cost-competitive sources of energy conversion. Heavy industry, schools, municipalities have been leaving the grid for years. Midsize industry, commercial groups, and others have joined the exodus. Homes and small businesses are now beginning to ‘head toward the exit’. Most USA homes and businesses have natural gas piped inside; and are increasingly using gas powered HVAC, engines and generators.

USA electrical power producers and electrical motor applications failed to improve efficiency for years; or more accurately worked tirelessly to prevent efficiency improvements. Economic ruin and bankruptcy are the rewards accruing to USA grid stakeholders as a result of this planned obsolescense. They cannot compete, or even pay their debts. This is particularly true for many of the civilian nuclear power plant operators. This phenomenon may or may not apply in Japan.

So the USA electrical customer response to rapid rate increases is … GOODBYE, ADIOS, ADIEU, ALOHA, AU REVIOR, SAYONARA … Schuss, Selamat Tinggal …

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

  2. Is the grid becoming irrelevant?

http www salon com/ (2013/08/22/is_the_grid_becoming_irrelevant/) Thursday, Aug 22, 2013 02:59 PM CST By Lindsay Abrams

The grid, consisting of 3,200 utilities, is a $400 billion a year industry. But David Crane, the CEO of NRG Energy, sees it as going the way of the U.S. Postal Service: “Utilities will continue to serve the elderly or the less fortunate, but the rest of the population moves on.” As Businessweek points out, the grid already peaked in 2007.

As everyone from big businesses like Verizon and Wal-Mart to individual households become their own power productions, there will be no more need for a centralized plant to burn fossil fuels and then distribute the power produced as electricity: The microgrid’s ultimate potential…is in turning every person, company, or institution with a renewable energy power system into a self-sustaining utility. Imagine your house switching from power it generates itself to power from the grid the way a Toyota (TM) Prius switches from battery power to gasoline.

  3. If …

If a new technology simultaneously increases: system-wide energy conversion efficiency, NPP safety, grid reliability, deliverable electrical power, energy self-sufficiency and system-redundancy; then the GLOBAL electrical grid stakeholders in general and the Nuclear Power Stakeholders in particular; will ALWAYS oppose that new technology.

It is TIME to shut those OBSTRUCTIONIST stakeholders DOWN. IMHO

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
