Tepco doesn’t measure radiation accumulated on the bottom of the sea

Regarding the Pacific contamination, Tepco stated they analyze seawater but they take the samples only from the surface of the sea on 9/27/2013.

They commented when they collect seawater samples outside of Fukushima nuclear plant port, the samples are not taken from near the bottom of the sea.

Cesium-134/137 is assumed to be accumulated on the bottom of the sea, but Tepco doesn’t and is not planning to analyze it.

Even inside of the plant port, they collect the seawater samples mostly from the surface of the sea.

 

Tepco explained the measurement means was not decided by only Tepco, but also with the Fisheries Agency, Fukushima prefectural government and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Also, Strontium-90 is water-soluble, so even if they analyze only the surface water, they can detect the marine contamination level.

 

According to Tepco and Japanese government, they don’t measure high level of radiation in their sampling points of the Pacific.

Concernant la contamination du Pacifique, Tepco affirme ce 27 septembre 2013 qu’ils analysent l’eau de mer mais qu’ils ne prennent leurs échantillons qu’en surface.
Ils ont déclaré que lorsqu’ils collectent leurs échantillons d’eau de mer en dehors du port de la centrale nucléaire de Fukushima, ils ne sont pas pris au fond de la mer.
Le césium 134/137 est supposé s’accumuler au fond mais Tepco ne l’analyse pas et ne prévoit pas de le faire.
Même dans le port de la centrale, ils prennent leur échantillons d’eau de mer essentiellement en surface.

Tepco se justifie en disant que la méthode d’échantillonnage n’a pas été décidée uniquement par Tepco mais en concertation avec l’agence des pêches, les autorités préfectorales de Fukushima et le ministère de l’Éducation, de la Culture, des Sports, de la Science et des Technologies.
De plus, le strontium 90 est soluble dans l’eau, donc même s’ils n’analysent qu’en surface, ils peuvent détecter son niveau de contamination en mer.

Selon Tepco et le gouvernement japonais, ils n’ont pas relevé de forte radioactivité à leurs points d’échantillonnage du Pacifique.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
