Plutonium-239/240 measured from 3km offshore of Fukushima Daiichi and Daini, Tepco “Within normal range”

According to Tepco, Plutonium-239/240 was measured from 3km offshore of Fukushima Daiichi and Daini.

Daini : (6.9±1.9)×10-6 Bq/L (Sampling date 2/6/2013)

 

Tepco states it’s still in the normal range as below,

 

Given that the density level of Pu-239+Pu-240 detected at 3km Offshore of Fukushima Daiichi NPS,Upper Layer and 3km Offshore of Fukushima Daini NPS, Upper Layer on February 6 and 9 are within the range of the past density measurements (ND~1.3×10-5 Bq/L) conducted along the seacoasts of 1F and 2F, it cannot be stated with absolute certainty that the presence of these particles is due to the accident.

 

However, Tepco mentions the historical density measurements but doesn’t mention the frequency of the detection of Pu-239/240 from sea water.

From the sample taken 2/5/2013, (5.8±1.7) ×10-6 Bq/L of Pu-239/240 was also measured.

Selon Tepco, du plutonium 239/240 a été détecté à 3 km au large de Fukushima Daiichi et de Daini.

Tepco affirme que ça reste dans les valeurs normales,

Attendu que le niveau des Pu 239 + Pu 240 détectés à 3 km au large de Fukushima Daiichi NPS, niveau de surface, et à 3 km au large de Fukushima Daini NPS, niveau de surface, les 6 et 9 février sont du même niveau que les concentrations relevées par le passé (ND~1.3×10-5 Bq/L) le long des côtes de F1 et F2, on ne peut pas affirmer avec certitude absolue que la présence de ces particules soit due à l’accident.

Cependant, si Tepco étale les mesures des détections passées dans l’eau de mer elle n’en mentionne pas la fréquence.

Dans les échantillons du 5 fev. 2013, (5,8 ±1.7) millionièmes de Bq/L de Pu 239/240 avaient aussi été détectés.  (cf. Du Pu 239/240 relevé dans l’eau de mer de la centrale de Fukushima, Tepco : C’est dans la fourchette des valeurs passées)

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
