Meteorological agency warns to stay alert to further aftershocks

On the regular press conference of Meteorological agency held on 12/20/2012, the director Hatori warned to stay alert to strong aftershock that may cause Tsunami.

As to the M7.4 on 12/7/2012, he stated it was probably the two different earthquakes to happen at once, but the mechanism is very complicated, which is not fully understood. They are still analyzing it with experts from various universities.

By 19:00 of 12/20/2012, 90 aftershocks have been occurring since the double M7.4 s on 12/7/2012.

Au cours de la conférence de presse habituelle qu’a tenu l’agence météorologique le 20 décembre 2012, son directeur, M. Hatori, a conseillé de rester vigilants vis à vis d’une forte réplique qui pourrait provoquer un tsunami.

They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
