[Groundwater] Tepco “Cs-134/137 density decreased after filtration”

Following up this article..[Groundwater] Cs-134/137 density jumped 1.2 times much as one day before, “33,000,000 Bq/m3, highest ever again” [URL]

On 7/10/2013, Tepco showed Cs-134/137 density can be decreased by filtration treatment. They state the groundwater sample included ground substances.

 

Sample 1

Sampling date : 7/8/2013

(Before filtration → After filtration)

Cs-134 : 9,000,000 Bq/m3 → 94,000 Bq/m3

Cs-137 : 18,000,000 Bq/m3 → 190,000 Bq/m3

 

Sample 2

Sampling date : 7/9/2013

(Before filtration → After filtration)

Cs-134 : 11,000,000 Bq/m3 → 130,000 Bq/m3

Cs-137 : 22,000,000 Bq/m3 → 270,000 Bq/m3

 

Residue after filtration of sample 2

Cs-134 : 10,000,000 Bq/m3

Cs-137 : 20,000,000 Bq/m3

 

However, Tepco excludes all β nuclides from nuclides to analyze apart from the filtered sample 2.

We therefore cannot know if the high readings of all β nuclides are due to the ground substance.

Le 10 juillet 2013, Tepco montre que la concentration en Cs 134/137 peut être réduite par un traitement de filtration.
Ils affirment que l’échantillon d’eau souterraine comportait des éléments du sol.

Ceci étant, Tepco a exclus tous les  β nucléides de ceux à analyser en dehors de l’échantillon 2 filtré.
On ne peut donc pas savoir si les hauts relevés de β nucléides sont dus aux particules de sol.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
