Fire found near the common incineration facility on the west side of reactor5

On 7/2/2013, Tepco’s subcontract company worker found temporarily placed waste catching fire near the common incineration facility on the west side of reactor5.

The private fire brigade started extinguishing the fire about 30 minutes after they found it. It was confirmed to be extinguished about 10 minutes later.

The waste to have burnt was cardboard. The fire spread 4m, 2m and 1m height. The reason of why cardboard spontaneously caught fire is not verified.

Tepco has published two press releases in Japanese, but only one press release was published in English by now.

The only English press release is below,

Around 12:48 PM today (July 2), a corporate company worker found temporarily placed waste catching fire near the common incineration facility at Fukushima Daiichi NPS.

A first-aid fire fighting is being performed and the fire was reported to the fire department at 12:54 PM.

No abnormality on the plant data (reactor injection water amount, spent fuel pool water temperature, etc.) and no significant change in the monitoring post data have been found.
There has been no injury reported due to the incident.

The situation of the fire will be announced as soon as it is reported.

Le 2 juillet 2013, un travailleur sous-traitant a découvert des détritus entassés provisoirement près de l’incinérateur à l’ouest du réacteur 5.

Les pompiers privés ont commencé à éteindre l’incendie environ une demi-heure après. Il était confirmé éteint dans les 10 minute suivantes.
Ce sont des cartons qui ont brûlé. L’incendie s’est étendu sur 4 x 2 m sur 1 m de haut. La raison pour laquelle ces cartons ont pris feu n’est pas encore connue.
Tepco a publié deux communiqués dessus en japonais mais un seul a été repris en anglais pour le moment.
L’unique communiqué en anglais est le suivant :

Aujourd’hui (2 juillet) vers 12:48, un travailleur sous-traitant a découvert un départ d’incendie dans un entassement provisoire de déchets près de l’incinérateur commun de l’usine d’électricité nucléaire (NPS) de Fukushima Daiichi.
Une action de premiers secours d’urgence est en cours pour le combattre et l’incendie a été signalé aux pompiers à 12:54.
Aucune anomalie n’a été constatée dans les données de l’usine (quantités d’eau injectées dans les réacteurs, température des combustibles usagés, etc.) et aucun changement notable aux bornes de surveillance.
Aucune blessure n’a été signalée sur cet incident.
La situation de l’incendie sera rapportée au fur et à mesure.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
