[Column] Back from the field research – Romania is full of the chances

I passed out for three hours nonstop, which is quite unusual for me.

I’m back to Bucharest yesterday evening.

The research was very fruitful with people who could answer any of my “silly” questions.

From this research, I got to know 150m2 class of the houses can be bought for 30,000 ~ 100,000 €, but they need renovation.

I’m going to get estimates about it.

Those self-sustaining villages don’t depend on money but they seem to need it.

Renovation and farming support would make them some cash, that would be win-win for the local residents and the new comers.

Romanian people said Ceausescu era ruined most of the things. One important thing to be ruined was the mentality among some people.

They also said it would take a couple of generations to entirely clear the old mentality. However, statistics say there would be zero population in 20 years in Romania.

Some people would find it desperate. but I see it full of chances.

Anything can be advantage and disadvantage depending on the purpose.

For me, Romania is the sweetest black hole.

Some Japanese people may share the same view with me. Then something would start.

I was asking a bunch of stupid questions to the local Romanian.

I asked her why livestock (horse, cattle etc) don’t kick off and escape.

I couldn’t understand the basic concept of the horse cart. Horse is way bigger than human, they could live anywhere they go.

She answered me because those animals are disciplined so, they don’t know they can live by themselves. They are trained not to think by themselves.

They never think of leaving.

It’s nothing different from human.

[PS] I’ll restart accepting donation for a few days from this Sunday.

This will be the only income of August. Thank you for reading it all the time.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
