Alarm at the Temporary Dry Cask Storage Facility, Tepco “No abnormality was found”

According to Tepco, alarm went off at the Temporary Dry Cask Storage Facility at 9:10 of 5/1/2013.

Tepco is transferring the spent fuel assemblies from the common pool to this temporary dry cask storage facility so they have more space in the common pool to accept the fuel assemblies from SFP4.

At the moment of 4/20/2013, 193 spent fuel assemblies are stocked in the dry cast storage facility.

In the follow-up press release, Tepco reported they did not find any abnormality in the facility.

They reported this below,

At 9:10 AM today (May 1), alarms indicating abnormality of the temporary cask storage facility (“abnormal pressure between the lids” and “abnormal surface temperature”) went off at the remote monitoring room in the Main Anti-earthquake Building.

No significant change has been found so far with the related parameters and the monitoring post readings.

Currently, site investigation is being performed (which is expected to take about an hour). Updates are to be announced.

This is a follow-up report on the incident where alarms went off at the temporary dry cask storage facility announced today (May 1).

As a result of site investigation of the temporary dry cask storage facility where the alarms went off, it was confirmed that there is no problem with the cask facility (the pressure between the lids and the surface temperature) at 11:06 AM today (May 1).

No significant change has been found with the monitoring post readings.

The cause of the incident will continue to be investigated.

This is a follow-up report on the incident where alarms went off at the temporary dry cask storage facility announced today (May 1).

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
