[Reader’s post] Tokyo supermarket selling peach labelled with double origins / “Fukushima・Wakayama” – Photo

A supermarket in Tokyo was selling peach labeling two different origins at once. A reader posted this on 7/23/2014.

The reader states the peach was found yesterday. The label states “Produced in Fukushima prefecture・Wakayama”.

Wakayama prefecture is in western Japan, which is totally different from Fukushima prefecture. This label doesn’t make any sense.

It was sold for a bargain. 498 yen for one pack to include 4 peaches.

It can be assumed that this is only a part of the entire picture. This label at least mentions “Fukushima” even though it is not assertive. However Fukushima products can be contained in variety of ingredients without any notice.

Cet étiquetage n’a aucun sens.

  1. ‘Japanese monkeys’ abnormal blood linked to Fukushima disaster – study, Primates in Fukushima region found to have low white and red blood cell levels and radioactive caesium, Damian Carrington, theguardian.com, Environment Fukushima, Thursday 24 July 2014 11.34 EDT, http ://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/jul/24/japanese-monkeys-abnormal-blood-linked-to-fukushima-disaster-study

Wild monkeys in the Fukushima region of Japan have blood abnormalities linked to the radioactive fall-out from the 2011 nuclear power plant disaster, according to a new scientific study that may help increase the understanding of radiation on human health. The Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) were found to have low white and red blood cell levels and low haemoglobin, which the researchers say could make them more prone to infectious diseases.

The scientists compared 61 monkeys living 70km (44 miles) from the the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant with 31 monkeys from the Shimokita Penisula, over 400km (249 miles) from Fukushima. The Fukushima monkeys had low blood counts and radioactive caesium in their bodies, related to caesium levels in the soils where they lived. No caesium was detected in the Shimokita troop. Professor Shin-ichi Hayama, at the Nippon Veterinary and Life Science University in Tokyo, told the Guardian that during Japan’s snowy winters the monkeys feed on tree buds and bark, where caesium has been shown to accumulate at high concentrations. “This first data from non-human primates — the closest taxonomic relatives of humans — should make a notable contribution to future research on the health effects of radiation exposure in humans,” he said. The work, which ruled out disease or malnutrition as a cause of the low blood counts, is published in the peer-reviewed journal Scientific Reports. White blood cell counts were lowest for immature monkeys with the highest caesium concentrations, suggesting younger monkeys may be more vulnerable to radioactive contamination.

Prof Hayama said that caesium levels were used as an indicator of the radiation exposure of the monkeys. “The low haematological values in the Fukushima monkeys could have therefore been due to the effect of any radioactive materials,” he said. “We did not conclude the low-blood cell counts are caused by caesium but so far we cannot find other reasons except radiation.”

  2. Reject USA agriculture products

USA produced foods should be summarily REJECTED by Japanese consumers, due to intolerably high allowed radioactive contamination levels. USA food products should be BANNED by the Japanese Government, due to unhealthy radiation contamination standards, inadequate testing and lack of labeling of radioisotope contamination levels.

Radiation health effects are cumulative; and the Nipponese can NOT reasonably accept the risks associated with UNTESTED & presumably UNSAFE USA Foods.

    http ://www.citizens.org/tell-the-fda-to-crack-down-on-radiation-in-our-food/

Citizens for Health, along with the other coalition members of Fukushima Fallout Awareness Network (FFAN Homepage, FFAN on facebook), filed a petition with the FDA to drastically reduce the amount of radioactive cesium permitted in food, from a ridiculous 1200 Bq/kg to 5 Bq/kg (see why here, read why here). Our petition asks for a binding limit of 5 Bq/kg of cesium 134 & 137 combined in food, nutritional supplements, and pharmaceuticals. This is necessary because of continuing exposure to radiation in the wake of the ongoing catastrophe at Fukushima, where reactors are still releasing radioactivity, along with atomic bomb testing and routine releases from nuclear power plants. We also ask that testing be widespread and, when technologically feasible, measurements below 5 Bq/kg be taken.

    No more ‘Killer Food’

  3. The Nevada Nuclear Weapon Test Site, now the: ‘Nevada National Security Site’, about about 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas is highly contaminated. In the 1950s, the ground glowed in the dark.

  4. Hiding

The USA government does not publish radiation test results for the Pacific Ocean, Pacific Seafood or any other food/fiber product.

The USA allows HIGHLY contaminated food into the marketplace.

Apparently USA food is unfit for livestock consumption in Japan; as it should be.

The USA has radiation hotspots all over the map; and the food is unsafe.

  5. ‘Support by Eating’.

The Japanese People historically had a STRONG preference for locally produced food. I have NEVER had a personal, or economic objection to that preference, practice and/or national policy. It is my considered judgement, that radioisotope contamination has rendered Honshu Island grown Japanese food products unsafe. Because radiation damage is CUMULATIVE; the Honshu grown food danger to the Nipponese; FAR exceeds the danger to most other population groups. Honshu Islanders and Chernobyl regional populations should AVOID radionuclide ingestion; with EXTREME efforts.

The Japan Government is strongly encouraging ‘Support by Eating’. Which is STUPID and MURDEROUS. Japan Government efforts; to encourage LOCAL FOOD consumption, via such actions, as currency manipulation and tariffs, are ill advised.

‘Support by Eating’ is an ill considered national policy.

  6. Example: (Again, I do not personally, usually support this type of USA TRADE-Deal pressure on Japan.) However, the ‘Support by Eating’, SPECIAL pressure; IS KILLING and MAIMING Japanese children. This personal concern, is specifically NOT, ‘about the money’. I think Japanese should import LOW-radioisotope food from South America and Australia; NOT the USA.

This advertisement was on the Drudge Report webpage yesterday: http ://keepfoodaffordable.com/ http ://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/50815/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=11094&utm_source=Weekly%20Standard%20&utm_medium=box&utm_content=Texas&utm_campaign=JulyTPP

Urgent Action Needed: U.S. agricultural products at risk in major trade deal Japan is holding a multi-national free trade agreement hostage with tariff demands. If Japan get this special treatment then US agriculture and hundreds of thousands of affiliated US jobs will take a major hit. Leaders in the US House of Representatives want to put a stop to this and are circulating a letter on Capitol Hill that is addressed to President Obama, urging him to sign the trade agreement without Japan unless they agree to zero tariffs on all products. To protect US agriculture and farmers, your Member of Congress needs to sign on to this letter. Please take this simple but big step to get your Representative to sign the letter. Tell Congress to keep Japanese tariffs out of TPP.

  7. Eating SHIT

The USA government has abandoned product labeling standards, contamination testing and point-of-origin labeling. Thus, it is an inescapable conclusion, that USA foods are dangerous and dirty.

It was a BAD idea to ‘Nuke Ourselves’, during the Cold War. And the present propaganda and cover-ups are unconscionable. Japanese consumers are well advised to avoid this shit.

Buy your foods from the Southern Hemisphere.

  8. USA Nuclear Power Plants and historical earthquakes

    http ://www.mapcruzin.com/images/nuclear-facilities-earthquakes-updated-450×273.png

And these USA Nuclear Power Plants are corroded, pitted, old, brittle and ‘Easy Targets of Opportunity’ for Terrorists, Criminals, Cartels and combat teams.

    Destined for doom

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
