According to Tepco, the groundwater already reached the surface of the ground on 8/27/2013.

The reached water was the mixture of groundwater and the chemical material injected to underground, which will become the impervious wall.

The location is in one of the borings of reactor2 seaside.

Tepco is building more impervious wall on the land side of the seaside. (cf, Tepco started isolating the seaside of reactor2 by underground walls [URL 2])

Tepco explains the groundwater level is affected by the construction of this land side impervious wall.

They are planning to abandon this boring and will use alternative observation hole like they labelled the thermometers as “Disordered” in reactor2 when those indicated the increasing temperature.

Selon Tepco, les eaux souterraines avaient déjà atteint la surface le 27 août 2013.

Le mélange qui est arrivé en surface était une mixture d’eaux souterraines et de boue chimique injectée dans le sous-sol pour y devenir le mur étanche
C’est à l’un des forages du côté mer du réacteur 2.
Tepco est en train de construire d’autres murs étanches côté terre et côté mer. (cf Tepco commence l’isolation côté terre du côté mer du réacteur 2 avec des murs étanches)
Tepco explique que le niveau des eaux souterraines est perturbé par la construction du mur étanche côté terre.
Ils prévoient d’abandonner ce forage et d’utiliser un autre trou d’observation comme quand ils avaient coté les thermomètres du réacteur 2 “hors service”  parce qu’ils indiquaient une montée des températures.

They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
