[Major leakage] All β nuclide detected in 1.5 m from reservoir No.2

According to Tepco, all β nuclides were detected from the outside of reservoir No.2

Tepco is running out of contaminated water storage facility. They made 7 underground reservoirs, but some of them ended up leaking to underground. So far, Tepco has admitted 3 of them are officially leaking.

On 5/2/2013, Tepco announced they were going to make 6 borings with an angle and a vertical boring. It is to investigate the leakage and contamination situation underground.

On 5/21/2013, they measured 290,000 Bq/m3 of all β nuclide in one of the borings, which is located at North East corner of the reservoir.

The boring is 1.5m far from the wall of the reservoir. It’s proved that the leaking contaminated water is already penetrating underground.

Selon Tepco, les β nucléides ont été détectés à l’extérieur du réservoir N°2

Tepco est en manque d’espace de stockage pour les eaux extrêmement radioactives. Ils ont construit 7 réservoirs enfouis mais certains d’entre eux on fini par fuir dans le sous-sol. Pour l’instant, Tepco a officiellement reconnu que 3 d’entre eux fuient.

le 2 mai 2013, Tepco avait déclaré qu’ils allaient faire 6 forages inclinés et un vertical pour surveiller la fuite et l’état de la contamination du sous-sol. (cf. [Fuites des réservoirs] Tepco va faire 7 forages de plus à côté de chaque réservoir percé)
Le 21 mai 2013, ils relèvent 290 000 Bq/m³ de β nucléides dans l’un des forages situé au coin NE du réservoir.
Le forage est à 1,5 m de la paroi du réservoir. Ça prouve que la fuite d’eau extrêmement radioactive est déjà en train de s’infiltrer en sous-sol.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
