12m and 8m long cracks on concrete base of 2 tank areas / Tepco doesn’t mention the possibility of land subsidence

2 of the long cracks were found on the base concrete of the tank areas.

Those cracks are 12m and 8m long, found in 2 tank areas. Those tank areas are next to each other.

 

The concrete base is to stop leaked contaminated water leak to the ground. Tepco removed the soil around the tank areas for the possible past leakage of contaminated water.

There is a possibility that land subsidence caused the long cracks, but Tepco didn’t mention the possibility and only announced they will cover the concrete base with urethane coating.

2 longues fissures ont été découvertes dans la base en béton de zones de citernes.
Ces fissures font 8 et 12 m de long, elles ont été trouvées dans 2 zones de citernes voisines.

Le sol est bétonné pour empêcher les fuites d’eau extrêmement radioactive de s’infiltrer dans le sol. Tepco a retiré le sol entourant les zones des citernes en précaution sur d’éventuelles fuites antérieures d’eau extrêmement radioactive.
Il est probable qu’un affaissement du terrain ait provoqué ces longues fissures mais Tepco n’en parle même pas, ils annoncent seulement qu’ils vont couvrir le béton avec de l’uréthane.

    What are the chances that this is reinforced, pre-stressed footed concrete foundation versus a typical TEPCO/Japan cheesy, cheapo bargain-basement ‘piecrust’ slab?

        TEPCO containment concrete is already SCATTERED across more than 1,000 square miles of Honshu Island and the adjacent Pacific Ocean.

        The slipshod, slap-dash, screwups of the now Bankrupt TEPCO are a matter of record. The consequences of these screwups are writ large across the Northern Hemisphere.

        TEPCO’s concrete is PROVEN defective a thousand times over. Not the least are the CRACKS indicated in this article. The TEPCO concrete is shit.

    1. Yeah,

      We ONLY have 35 years of slipshod operations, poor construction, fraudulent reports. TEPCO and Japan have DEMONSTRATED that a Level-7 Chernobyl-style nuclear disaster, was a Best-Case-Scenario. TEPCO has demonstrated what Level-8, Level-9, Level-10, Level-11 and Level-12, Nuclear Disasters would look like. (Should we decide to stick with the present Order of Magnitude disaster scaling.)

      You get 1 Extra Level for international concealment or local non-evacuation. 1 Extra Level per additional reactor. 1 Extra Level for killing an ocean.

      Chernobyl was a Level-7 and Fukushima is a Level~12.

          IT was the silence that made this voyage different from all of those before it. Not the absence of sound, exactly.The wind still whipped the sails and whistled in the rigging.               This Australian Newspaper account correlates, and perhaps confirms, the academic reports of biota die-offs in the North Pacific.

              There is some debate regarding the cause(s). The FACTS of the EVENTS are hardly in dispute.

I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
