12,390 Bq/Kg from refuse incineration ash everyday

Tokyo local government announced the contamination situation of refuse incineration ash in Tokyo.

According to the data, only the “minor part” of the ash contains 1,525 ~ 12,390 Bq/Kg of cesium-134, -137 on the daily basis. (page 2)

It’s from our everyday garbage.

Refuse incineration ash is separated into the major part and the minor part.

The later one is the dust trapped in the filter.

This is the data of the minor part.

About the major part, the data is blank for some reason.

On 6/28/2011,they decided that radioactive ash which is lower than 8,000 Bq/Kg can be treated as normal garbage.

These “minor” part of ash will be abandoned normally or fly out of the waste incineration plant and come back to our lives.

If we become eager to decontaminate, the contamination situation will be even worse than this.

The data about the major ash is blacked out but it can be assumed that it is way worse than the minor part of it, which is on the sheet.

Below is the graph to compare each waste incineration plant, made late September.

Edogawa ku seems to be the champion of contamination.

That is where the Hotel radiation must be located at.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
