112 of 173 children diagnosed with thyroid abnormality in Kashiwa city Chiba

On 10/30/2015, Kashiwa city government announced 112  of 173 children were diagnosed with thyroid cyst or nodule.

6 of them were diagnosed with cyst (larger than 5.1 mm) or nodule (larger than 20.1 mm), 11 of them were required to have follow-up test.

The testees are the children born in 1992 ~ 2011. It was implemented from this July to September.

In order to receive the subsidy to have this test, the parents were required to sign the declaration of consent. It declares that the test does not guarantee the potential health state in the future but only represents the present’s state, and also that it is not to evaluate the radiation effect because of the nuclear accident but only alleviate the anxiety for radiation exposure.

Le 30 octobre 2015, la municipalité de Kashiwa annonce que 112 enfants sur 173 ont été diagnostiqués avec des nodules ou des kystes thyroïdiens.

6 d’entre eux l’ont été pour des kystes (de plus de 5,1 mm) ou des nodules (de plus de 20,1 mm) et 11 d’entre eux ont été conviés à subir des examens complémentaires .
Les examinés sont des enfants nés entre 1992 et 2011. Les examens ont eu lieu entre juillet et septembre.
Les parents ont du signer une déclaration de consentement pour se faire rembourser ces examens. Elle précise que les examens ne garantissent pas l’état de santé qui en découlera, qu’ils ne fixent que l’état de santé actuel et aussi qu’il ne s’agit pas d’une évaluation des effets de la radioactivité due à l’accident nucléaire mais seulement d’apaiser les angoisses devant l’exposition à la radioactivité.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
