[100m3 overflow] Contaminated water is removed by “hand-digging” of human workers

Following up this article.. [100m3 leakage] 64m3 of overflowed water still not removed [URL]

The overflowed contaminated water is being removed by hand-boring of the human workers.

Having 100m3 of highly contaminated water overflow from a tank, Tepco held an extraordinary press conference on 2/28/2014.

In the press conference, where vice president, and Fukushima plant chief attended, they stated the overflowed water flowed to the area, where the valves and the pipes are complicatedly installed. Because they cannot reply on heavy equipment, human workers must try to remove the water by hand.

By 2/28/2014, still more than half of the water remains unremoved. Regarding the contaminated ground soil, they had removed 130m3.

The overflowed water is assumed to contain 240,000,000,000 Bq/m3 of All β nuclides to include Strontium-90. Even though shielded, the workers are forced to be exposed to Bremsstrahlung from the contaminated water.

Downplay it in the beginning, and quietly add more information so nobody notices it. All for not letting the cattle escape. This is their strategy.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
