0.6 μSv/h from the street dust in Edogawa ward Tokyo

A citizen’s researcher measured high level of radiation from the street dust.

The sample was taken in Hirai, Edogawa ward Tokyo. Sampling date was 5/27/2013.

The atmospheric dose is 0.1 μSv/h, which is relatively high. It picked up to be 0.6 μSv/h on the dust.

Sometimes the street dust highly accumulates radioactive material. It’s blown up by wind and can be breathed in to cause severe internal exposure.

Radioactive risk can’t be evaluated only by atmospheric dose.

Un contrôleur privé a relevé une forte radioactivité dans la poussière de rue.

L’échantillon provient de Hirai, quartier Edogawa de Tokyo. Il date du 27 mai 2013.
La dose ambiante est de 0,1 μSv/h, ce qui est relativement fort. C’est monté à 0,6 μSv/h dans la poussière.
La poussière des rues accumule parfois les matières radioactives. Elle est soufflée par le vent et peut être respirée et provoquer des expositions internes graves.
Le risque radioactif ne peut pas être établi uniquement à partir de la dose ambiante.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
